Simple cotton night dress/sleep shirt, either sleeveless or short sleeve, no button/plaques and preferably just above the knee.
When my wife was alive, I experimented with various types of ladies’ sleepwear as my wife was an enthusiastic supporter and enabler – so I have tried chemises and various silky things but find all of them too fussy or uncomfortable on my male anatomy when lying in bed.
Talking of male anatomy, I wear panties with them to prevent the little boy from flapping around or “tenting” the night dress when I lie on my back (sometimes).
Comfort is important of course, so I go for hi-cut, boyshort or full brief but in the interests of preserving the feminine element, always choose something satiny with lace inset/trim & little bow
