Yes I had an earlier model and it didn’t work for me. I tried it over a period of many months. I had to set it a maximum power and I could smell the singed hair!

The new generation does specify that men can use it but it won’t work as well for facial hair. If the claims are true then it would work out cheaper than paying salon fees.
