Hi Bettie,  I do that all the time.  And if you wear out or rip a hole in them where you don’t want it, just make a patch out of an older pair of junk jeans (or the legs that you cut off to make shorts) and then glue the patch on the inside of the hole with fabric glue.   Have fun,  Marg
