Like you, I went through a few cycles and deeply regret not only the money “thrown away” but also the loss of a good number of items I think I could now use and are not easy to find in any of the shops.
Nowadays, I keep everything I acquire in my special storage space – whether they are being used or not – in case at some point in the future they come in handy again (or can be matched with a new acquisition).
