I chose my name as a pun to remind me that I was still a male.  My name can be nicknamed Al, so I chose Alison (Al is (a) son).  The question then came as to how to spell it.  Ideally I would have gone with Alisson, but that spelling is very rare, and much more often used as a surname than a first name.  The more frequent spelling Allison to me reads All is son (double usage on the s) which is not what I wanted.  So I went with Alison, which, when double using the s, reads how I wanted it.  But the name has stuck with me, and although I know the pun is there, I don’t really hear it.

My last name Anderson was chosen from the street I grew up on for my early years.
