As far as I was aware mine never did: but she must have had some idea.  I was awful: trying so many of her clothes and I know I broke a zip of a dress of hers (which I still feel bad about as the dress  was beautiful!). She made one comment in all the years: but then we didn’t tend talk about emotions or  anything serious. What still upsets me is that having three sons she often said she’d wished she had had a daughter: and there was I desperately wanting to be that person!
