I know it is a contentious issue but we are far from the days of old. If you take the base title it’s about beauty, no mention of intellect. The inference in the past was that the girls were just innocent bimbos parading in front of slavering men, somehow forced into it. How many of these ‘bimbos’ went onto have fulfilling careers and made a good living? Look at todays reality stars. A lot don’t seem to have a brain cell between them but my god have they the looks – that’s both sexes – then look at what they earn and the profile they have so objectifying cuts both ways, men can be objectified too and that seems to be okay.
The thought that this objectifies women is a worthy one but then the internet is awash with girls making a good living by making the choice to objectify themselves.
