It’s a completely normal question you ask.
I think having a female voice makes us (CD/TG mtf) more real when we’re in women’s clothing; but speaking in a feminine tone when you are away from your home is always a question linked to many factors (culture, acceptance, tolerance) of the place where you live and also of personal choice.
With the help of a good speech therapist / vocal coach you can get a good feminization of the voice in an acceptable time frame.
It always depends on what pleases you and what brings you happiness.
