Hu-Mans are not good with Change. It requires that we do things differently and often that doesn’t happen overnight. For trans people, I think it takes some time to settle into a new way of thinking and how we perceive the rest of the world. As many have said, it is a marathon and not a sprint. We are looking at the world from a different viewpoint and through a different lens. While the shift is desirous, it is also scary. We’re jumping off the high board but we don’t know for sure if there is any water in the pool.
Purely my perspective: I think the question about why now is less important than dealing with sorting out what happens next. If we look behind us too much, we could be surprised by bumping into a wall…
