I think the preferred way to wig shop is in person to get the best results. A good wig shop will not have any issues working with you and they will get you a good fit with a style that flatters you and cut it as needed along with styling it for you. They also will have several different price points so you can get the price/value combination that’s best for you. It might be a bit scary but if you set up a private appointment you will be fine and will enjoy a nice girly experience.
