I had been trying to lose weight for years. Even exercising was not having any visible effect. But when my company started offering incentives for taking a certain number of steps each day, and I found I wasn’t reaching it on weekends, I started to walk through my neighborhood. It only took a week or two before I decided if I’m going to be paid to walk, I was going to do it en femme.
During the height of the pandemic, I would walk almost every day. I even got to meet a new friend whom I would often pass on my walks. It still didn’t do much for weight loss, but it certainly didn’t hurt.
This year I lost quite a bit of weight, but it was due to illness rather than any concerted effort on my part. Because of my recovery, time constraints, rain or excessive heat, or bad air from the Canadian wildfires, I haven’t gone out as much, but I’m hoping to get back into a routine of walking.
