Hello…I’m barely awake, but I needed to write this….

Today, for the first time since I have been a member….the general forum is stuck with virtually the same 10 posts all day!!!

I know there has been anti humour posts ..too much triviality and digressing from the ” support sites goals”…..by the way, the pink or blue panties poll passes 250 votes!!!

Serious subjects are bypassed and ” fun” gets more reaction and response…….but why???

Firstly…I am guilty of flooding this place with fun

I’m also answering every call for help and advice that I can answer.

I am not a ” thanks collector”, I like to think I EARN THEM….that comment hurt me!!!!!..no names.

I have read, re read and answered the same posts all day ..not ignoring any of them ( unless they don’t apply….I cannot get to Vegas for Halloween )….I hope it’s a glitch, the system has been odd for the last few days. Hopefully tomorrow the general forum will be back to normal….but I digress…

I just wondered if the powers that be could insert a forum for fun, comedy, happy thoughts and madness…..so the general forum could be left to ” serious subjects”…then we would know where to go for a laugh ….or where to go to help someone in need…..

I’m so happy to help, but I’m also so happy to laugh….if the two cannot mix…then so be it.

    Just my opinions…grace xxx

Hi everyone….I have decided to close this…I don’t want to stir up any more ” discussion ” ….I think the general consensus is to leave things as they are…..which is great. Thanks for your opinions xx

I thought we were past this question, This forum is Life as it goes on, and that includes everything,
Please, dont change it. As someone else suggested, if we need a separate forum, make it for help and support, but I can almost guarantee, we will not get the responses we do now, as one forum.
      Hugs, Regi👸💖

I don’t think separating the humor out of any category is the right thing to do. Many posts start out serious but derail into humor. The very serious cries for help get responses appropriately and those threads retain their serious nature. The thought of creating separate categories for “Help!” and “Humor” bothers me in that there might be a decline in the overall hits as people may ignore one or the other. Stumbling across a humorous post while in a serious mood breaks the dreary spell. Likewise coming across a serious post may spark a need to respond or contemplate. To separate the two extremes is to loose the balance that makes us whole. That sentence alone us open to several tangents, both serious and humorous. We need to retain that flexibility. “Life as it goes” as a category and as reality is both serious and fun. Let’s not segregate.

      ***OT***
Like any number of seniors i too am supposed to wear specs. Most of the time I won’t so I don’t see how effed up this world really is. But on occasion I’ll put on a pair and look for some of the beauty still left to find. Now and then, I’ll even discover it too!!😯😯

One of the most beautiful things I have discovered has a new element every single day. I refer of course to CDH.

Where else can a person find such a wide spectrum of emotion in a single area. But, the parts i look for the most, is those posts where somebody needs a friendly shoulder.

I can’t always reply for whatever reason, but i do think about the issue. Sometimes, I will come up with a reply that’s worth putting into words. I am, at times, also guilty of putting down a reply without thinking first.

However, if intentions count for anything, Id be wearing a halo!

Take care beautiful people, you are all special. Holly

      Hi Grace,

I hear you my friend – so I went exploring and sure enough I found what my memory was telling me.

There is a Group page for “Gals who like to giggle” (or some title like that).  Go to Groups and it is easy to find.  But the Group has been around for awhile and there are only 18 members of the Group and very few posts (though there was a cute mime joke).  Each Group has a Forum attached to it.  So I went to the Gals that Giggle Forum and there were no posts at all.

I’m totally fine leaving things as they are for now.  The chances that the “powers that be” actually see this Forum post are pretty small – they just don’t have the gal power to monitor all the topics and chats 24/7 (I know because I was an Ambassador for a couple of years – it can really be time consuming – they are very dedicated volunteers!!!!!).  So for them to see it, someone has to feel that it is important enough to forward the link to the Managing Ambassador and she will follow up.  I’ve sent things to her before and she is excellent.

Well enough of the Business side of things.  As promised the snow came, and it went just as quickly.  It is cold but apparently not cold enough for the snow to stay yet.  I bet the deep snow is waiting for my five hour drive to visit my son & his family next week. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen.  Have a lovely rest of the week Grace. All the Very Best, Hugs, Krista.

PS Although I’m wearing royal blue panties today, I’m definitely more partial to pink

Oh Grace sweetie your having a laugh, Beware the night of the long knives. I think if you make a separate comedy forum the spontaneous humour will be replaced eventually with scripted humour which will in time itself will become stale.

One solution “Management” leave the existing “Everyday Life as it is” that way everyday thing we actually talk about and  do and happens in our lives can be shared, talked about, enjoyed, with the natural reactions of every day conversation. If you cannot see that this formula works and a majority of girls enjoy this form of connection in a safe and friendly place, then that’s sad  . A coffee morning tonic that breaks the isolation and builds a stronger friendly  foundation of support for this site. Create a separate forum if you wish,

“HELP, SUPPORT, & ADVICE. That way we can all subscribe to it, and management can be alerted instantly and so us  too. Plus we will be able to respond effectively.

Three,  do away with the league table on the number of ” Thanks ” for posts as I see,  it doesn’t serve any purpose. Being thanked or thanking someone its just etiquette.

Rant over, need a vodka just an idea,

      Amanda xx

Thank you Regi, it’s a simple but effective solution, but then it’s not my site. But we have an army of girls that are comfortable in their  lives, with probably no issues, sat around waiting for those with problems to ask for help. What are these girls supposed to do, if you don’t belong to a specific groups of interest.

After all what female doesn’t like to to chatter, and it’s gets everyone the ability to join in and meet a vast array of new girls through what could be a very good social forum for much needed socialising and conversations to which many girls don’t get the chance to achieve.

As a lot of the posts in the topic headings may have a light hearted or humourous aspect to them. In my experience someone who is asking for serious advice or help gets it and it is treated seriously. There are many such examples of serious and thought out advice or debate that do not wander off topic. Perhaps we should be mindful of the authors writing and stick to topic.

In a lot of forums there are a few members that post and reply compared to the amount of people that are registered. So imagine that you are looking at the sites and see this. Is it a clique that is not welcoming?  I am sure plenty of members read the posts and may never post themselves as they may get the advice they need. However is there another reason?

I wonder if we need a help and advice heading?

      Deja vu?

Anyway, how about turning it ’round? Have a new forum for the cries for for help and the screams of frustration. Much less chance of getting them jumbled together, since humour is such a subjective thing. People will know where to go for help or a friendly shoulder, and those of us who like the trivia and the giggles can trivialise and giggle away to their hearts content.

Can I add that I’ve never seen a nasty post on this site? No judgment. No criticisms. It’s a pity that someone had to be upset.

As the old saying goes “a place for everything, and everything in its place.”

Well, humor is something that the human race needs. Humor has its “place” EVERYwhere, with  2 notable exceptions:

      1) At the bedside of a terminal patient

      2)In a graveyard

All that said,  I ‘ll continue posting my occasional humor, unless and until I get censored.

btw, did you hear the one…………

Hi Grace, my dear. As an eloquent and incisive writer, you have taught with humour but never strayed from the point in issue. You style is superior and flows well. You reply with careful and succinct answers. I have not experienced any sharp edges or criticism in any of your work. For me you are ambassador class. You know the correct way to inspire comment and you show empathy to those who contact you.I am also hurt if anyone criticises out of order. This strategy does not help foster the aims we stand for here. Those aspects of personal progress we seek to nurture, must be handled in love. Grace, you have led the way in showing how to handle awkward and personal questions and comment. You also possess that special skill that is used with respect, when someone speaks out of line, you brush it off. You are a willing helper.

I might appeal to those who may have felt “aggrieved”. I might remind them of the aims which have stood the test of time here since Vanessa began this membership. We stand by each other, we support, we bring about an atmosphere where can freely breathe and be ourselves. If any member feels that something is amiss I accept you have an opinion but please, please do not make personal comments that are intended to hurt. There are more adult ways to make your point and I hope you will keep them in your mind until you have discovered the truth and sought advice from an ambassador. Yes you have an opinion – as I do. I appeal to you all, please take a breath, stand back, look objectively and think ” Am I envious? Is this righteous anger?D Do I have an absolute right to cause ill feeling? ( I think not) I believe you would consider again and agree, we must always deal respectfully with each other. We become sisters here because we want that companionship. Why spoil something so good?

I appeal to you all- think twice ( or more times) – find a polite way to say something that is contentious. Do it privately. And do remember – we might have misunderstood something – think again.
Thank you for reading to the end here. I mean no harm to any of you. I do not claim to be faultless either. But I do hope we can share teach tolerance and respect. And appreciate each others contribution. Such qualities give credibility to CDH, and to you too. Thank you again.

      In love,

      Anya

A place for humorous posts? That’s a funny idea… seriously (since we can’t be funny) I don’t see what’s wrong with humor, since it’s rather laugh than cry, and I’ve actually cried a few times lately. But that’s for a different post maybe.

Hi Grace it doesn’t matter if they do a humorous forum i shall still read them, humour is part and parcel of everyday life most people know when things are funny and when things are more serious, we know when to give our support when things get difficult for people,

But without your uplifting humorous annicdote’s (I must get a dictionary) to lift our spirits now and again this world would be a sad place X

      Hi Cap’n Grace,
I think the General forum can take a bit of humour, but perhaps there could be a forum for the really silly stuff called CDH Comedy Central… or something like that.
I’m sure someone could come up with a better title though!!!

A man walks into a bar and says: “Ouch!” 😉

Seriously, I’m torn on this.  While I absolutely agree that a bit of humor in good spirit is a healthy and beneficial thing, I’m unsure whether it warrants its own forum, as one could easily post a humorous thread in either the General or possibly even Arts forums without raising too many threaded eyebrows.

If the mods decide it would be beneficial, however, I expect to spend a good amount of time there.

Guess I’m not really getting the context.  If it’s a serious thread and people are jumping in making jokes… yeah, I can see that.  But if it’s a lighthearted/humorous thread why not?

      hi Gracie,

I’ve only just come back from a few days away so I’m not aware of any recent groundswell of opinion for ‘serious’ stuff. Posts are what posts are – they’re either earnest, or thoughtful, or well, lighter stuff. I’m not quite sure why humour can’t be part and parcel of most threads anyway. Are girls really so bothered that they don’t post serious stuff in case their thread gets highjacked by someone seeing humour in some aspect or other? I’ve never seen insensitivity in evidence when someone post an obviously serious post

Having said that, whatever the site managers decide is OK by me. I’ll just have to find my humour ‘on / off’ switch. I’m sure it’s there somewhere.

      Marti xxx

been on a bit of a road trip, came third in my teams first pub quiz in almost 2 years, rubbed my pregnant daughters 6 month sized belly, had the crack with a guy doing 14 years, but trusted to run the prison shop, visited a wonderful buddhist retreat in lake district territory (just passing through), caught up with some dear old friends I hadn’t seen for over 2 years , and even a nightmare 5 hours trapped by a huge traffic jam on the M6 … 1200 miles in 6 days. Although it was still nice to be back and to my own bed and satin to sleep in.

          And CDH of course.
