Alexis, I’ll pick number 9.  Only one for me- I ask pleasantly surprised with the Plant and Krauss pairing.

      Robert Plant is still alive??

I’m an Iron Maiden gal. Who else nowadays can do a 12+ minute song and keep you engaged? They can do no wrong!

      Hugs, Barb 🙂

I don’t know any of those acts.
It’s not my kind of music for this old girl.
I’d be into ABBA, The Seekers, The Carpenters, Charley Pride, music from up to about the 1980’s. Having said there would still be some music that was published that I would like.
I also love Neil Diamond, Elaine Paige, Barbara Dickson, Whitney Houston not forgetting some Classical and folk

      Hi Alexis,
I have been adding music to my Apple Music library throughout the year.
Mainly music from the 1980s and 1970s along with some House music as well.
      Love and hugs from Stephanie

I have replaced several CD’s in my collection that really needed to be retired.  I know I have picked up one or two others here and there.  The two absolutely new ones to my pile, both by Nightwish…. Playtime/Storytime, and Ghost Love Score.

      Hi Alexis,

      Sorry, can’t resist 😉

The only music I’ve bought this year was in a charity shop in the Lake District. 10 classical CDs for a pound – perhaps they are going out of style?

But a few of my favourite youtube oldie plays this year in no particular order have been:

Fascinating Aida (try “prisoner of gender”)
Dead and Co (thanks to Pru)
      Indian Ragas
Buena Vista Social Club / Cuban songs – “Chan chan”!
      Philip Glass (esp. Koyaanisqatsi)
      Patti Smith
      Fairport Convention
Pink Floyd Echoes, the surfing video

      – and getting really up to date, [blush]
      Pink
      Adele

Echoes is such a brilliant song…

and if you haven’t heard it yet, there’s an instrumental version by Rodrigo y Gabriela that is so worth it.

Medicine at Midnight – Foo Fighters.

I picked up the special release they had for Record Store Day, under the name “the Dee Gees”. It called Hail Satin and side 1 is all Bee Gees covers! It’s brilliant.

Yes. I wasn’t able to get that one, but I love their Bee Gees covers. Then again, I love everything Dave Grohl does.

I listened to a lot of B-52s and ELO music this year.  I bought a couple of “best of” albums from them.

The only new album I bought this year was “Voyage” by ABBA.  First time I’ve bought a new release on vinyl since… well… I can’t remember when.   Everything else I’ve purchased recently has been a reissue of some sort.  I am a sucker for fancy 180-gram deluxe reissues of records I already own.

So I guess by default “Voyage” is my pick for album of the year.  Congrats to ABBA.  I do like most of the tracks on it though.

Got that for Christmas – on my To Hear pile, together with the Puppini Sisters, the late Victoria Wood ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFI5Jl_IqsE ) and some Imelda May. Hows that for eclectic?
