So I’m ready to start on dressing like a woman and I really want to do everything I can to be as passable as possible.. I have a kind of masculine body and want to make it look as close to a females as possible. At the start I’d be fine with just how I look with clothes or outfits on but I am working on it so that I look that way naked.. also any tips on wigs, outfits, shapers, outfits, anything would be awesome!!

Breast forms are good and if you can dedicate a bit of discomfort to your appearance corsets/waist trainers can work well to help with your hourglass figure. Jeans look best with heels

      Hi Kelsea!

Welcome to CDH.  Let me suggest that you go in and fill in some more about yourself on your profile.  It is somewhat easier to give advice and share experiences if we know each other  a little better.  For instance:  do you already have some wardrobe items?  Are you comfortable shopping in person or are you sticking to on-line shopping only at this point?  Are you married or live with a significant other who knows of what interests you?

I have come a long way since my first steps in dressing and experienced just about every concern and nervous small step there is.  My wife does not know so I have developed some ways to enjoy myself even in public without being able to be en femme full time.

Let me know if you have specific questions and I will share what I know.  I also want to urge you to join us on the chat page -lots of Q&A there all time.

      Good luck!

      Hi Kelsea,

Welcome to CDH. There is a lot of information on here that you’ll find helpful in relation to your journey.

If you are just starting out, I would suggest you really get to know your body measurements. If you can, get someone to help you, it’ll make for more accurate measurements. Measure your chest below the nipple for your bra band size. Your natural waist (usually around or just above your belly button) and your hips. This will make it much easier looking for clothes that will fit you better.

Enjoy the fun and sing out if you need any advice. All the girls are happy to help where they can.

      Hugs

Hip falsies, known as symmetricals, have been around forever. Groucho talked about playing a prank by hiding a pair worn by a lady in her vaudeville act. Check out what’s available from the site affiliates or check out Amazon. There are also exercises you can to to build a more shapely tuchus.

Hi Kelsea, and welcome. I think the best place to start is with makeup. And while there are MANY YouTube tutorials on makeup, most for crossdressers are usually a “one-size-fits-all” solutions, or make you look like a drag queen. I have discovered the best way to hone your makeup skills is to experiment and practice until you find that “LOOK” that can become uniquely yours. Makeup is so trans-formative. When I become Paulette few people that know me recognize me, which is why when I am ‘out and about’ I am not too concerned about anyone recognizing me. I tell new girls to find that one facial feature that you feel is your most outstanding, then use that as the basis for your makeup experience. It could be your eyes (many times it is), the shape of your face, or your lips. Regardless of what it is it is a great place to start. I hope to see some photos in the near future of your success with makeup. Hugs, Paulette

My advise is to not try too hard. Just let your personality and style evolve, as you surely will as you progress.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask, but a general question like how do I look like a woman is extremely hard to answer as it would take pages and pages of responses, and we are all different in how we would respond to such a broad topic.

      Hi Kelsea,

Welcome to CDH.  Enjoy your first steps.  Something you might do is watch and observe women.  Watch how they walk, hold their hands, how they hold their head.  Observe how they sit and how they dress as you would like to blend in.

But most of all keep smiling.

Hello Kelsea welcome to CDH having found us you have made the step to become part of a family that is welcoming, understanding, compassionate, and supportive. While we are all similar and have many of the same desires we all differ on our goals or public expression and or level of personal experiences. I encourage you to explore the many forums, topics, polls and member biographies found here as there are a wide range of members all over the spectrum of feminine expression or those on the path to transition and those that have. There are also links to websites that have products and services that may help you on your own personal path of acceptance and self expression. Ultimately it is a place, home, or world were you can feel feel comfortable and confident in who you are; as being who you truly are as your authentic self of you being a man, a woman, or expressing your feminine desires feelings and or qualities. I am happy you are here and have made a choice to accept this part of yourself as self acceptance is the most important thing you can do for yourself and others. You can’t expect others to accept you if you don’t accept yourself all of you. As you are sharing a part of your authentic self here on CDH it ultimately lifts some of the burden that you may be feeling which many of us have carried for what seems like a lifetime you are not alone. Being here helps not only yourself but helps others gain acceptance and confidence I am happy you have made the step to be here. Welcome!

      Hugs April

      My advice to a beginner:

      1. Get a firm shaper
      2. Silicon hip pads help change the hip/shoulder ratio and help accentuate the appearance of a waist
      3. Good quality breast forms, but don’t go overboard. Unless you are really heavy, DDs look way out of proportion.
      4. Good quality wigs in short to middle lengths. Go to a shop and get fitted, try various styles and listen to the sales associate. Its her job to help you look good.
      5. Makeup: a) less is more. Avoid garish/excessive eye shadow, etc. b) basics from drugstore brands are perfectly fine and you’ll save money, c) get some hands on training in the application of products
      6. Select clothing that is a) age appropriate, b) situation appropriate and c) fits your body style. You’ll save a lot of money by purchasing clothes at goodwill or other thrift outlets and therefore the inevitable fails won’t sting quite so much.
