You can’t dress as a woman in Major League Baseball???

I don’t enjoy sports. The only one I have an inkling of interest is Major League Baseball. Haven’t watched a game in many years, but I like to watch YouTube videos about it. Today I came across a video of crazy rules in baseball. And it’s true, you can’t dress as a woman in MLB.

The policy, obtained by The Associated Press, prohibits “requiring, coercing or encouraging” players from “dressing up as women or wearing costumes that may be offensive to individuals based on their race, sex, nationality, age, sexual orientation, gender identify or other characteristic.”

Think that’s bad? You can’t be a little person either!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum posts.

Obviously, it can’t apply to an individual making the choice on their own as many ball players have long hair that many of us girls would just die for.  LOL!!!  (Yes, tongue in cheek.)

Unless I’m mistaken, this is related to the hazing “traditions” of humiliating rookies by forcing them to dress up like hookers.

If you read again, doesn’t seem to have anything against any individual dressing up like a woman by their own personal choice. And it wouldn’t be for a game, which requires them to wear uniforms of course.

If the rule applies to off the field activities, then yes. MLB doesn’t have that right.
On the field, MLB and clubs can set their rules.

Bill Veeck signed a little person to a contract with the St. Louis Browns. The idea was to present opposing pitchers with an impossibly small strike zone. Hence that prohibition. Obviously Crossdressing presents a similar challenge due to the breasts extending over the plate right “at the numbers”.

Does the wearing costumes part also encompass the oppositions attire? That could be offensive to the home fans……
