Yesterday,my wife and I went on one of our regular trips into the city.I am completely out to her.As a result, she buys all my ladies clothes for me and encourages me every step of the way. When we go out shopping I am always in male mode. But it’s good girly fun.Imagine our disappointment when we went to two UK ladieswear chain stores and found hardly anything that caught our eyes. The first store was called Apricot a store  we have never visited previously which we understood to be a nice store specialising in affordable clothes for mature ladies of  our age ,I am sixty two ,my wife is fifty eight. The second store Bon Marche is well known to us and we have bought many cute tops and skirts over the years.Best of a bad bunch  there were a couple of reasonably nice skirts which on close examination didn’t look like good quality to us.To compensate for this we will have peruse the online store Damart  which always has many items to suit our tastes. We aim to buy several items from that store.Furthermore,my lovely wife has promised me some nice coloured opaque tights for the winter.I have also asked her for some necklaces for my dresses and a supply of new panties.

Wow, I am so jealous Roberta, that must be wonderful having such a supportive wife. At this point it’s just something I dream about. I came out to my wife before we were married and have been together for 47 years. She is tolerant as best and I’m fine with that as she seems to be becoming more accepting, finally. So my hopes are up and it would be great if she decides the meet Trish sometime. Treat your wife well Roberta, she’s definitely one in a million.

      Love,

      Trish

Your one of the lucky ones who has a supportive wife. Sorry you didn’t find any good buys while out on your shopping trip.

You are very fortunate to have a wife that is understanding and supportive as well .

I have to say that my SO and myself had basically the exact same thing happen to us last weekend. She and I had gone to a couple of stores that we usually do well with finding items we like. We look for ourselves and if we find something the other one likes we show/ share that with each other. We cover more ground that way. She has typically found most of my cute tops for me and I have a very high success rate finding stuff for her. This trip we found nothing and we went home somewhat disgusted with our failed shopping attempt.  There just wasn’t anything that appealed to either of us. Better luck next time hopefully.

      Hi Roberta ,

Sounds like you have a wonderful wife there.

Sorry you didn’t find much while shopping.

I have dry spells like that as well.

Dont worry something cute always turns up.

      Roberta,

Thanks for sharing your shopping experience recently. I think that it’s wonderful your wife is not only accepting, but helps you buy ladies clothes. What a wonderful woman! Although shopping can be fun, sometimes it can be very disappointing. My Daddy taught me that sometimes what you want, isn’t as good as what you already have. 😉

You are so lucky to have such an accepting partner Roberta.

I find that Apricot is one of those stores you have to visit regularly as their market is probably mid range in age but the sales are definitely worth a look. Bon Marche is tailored for the more mature lady but they do have some little gems every now and again. I bought a lovely linen dress about ten years ago, it’s well made and still fashionable, I wore it to lunch with friends the other day and was complimented . Have you thought of visiting the major stores , Asda or Sainsburys? They have some lovely clothes, usually well made and at a good price. I would say that I get a lot of my clothes and accessories from these two stores.  I think the age range for the clothes is for women in their thirties and upwards I have seen dresses I wear being worn by ladies from thirty upwards and I am 65!

The beauty about shopping is to look in all the shops even the youngsters shops such as New Look can throw up surprises. I wandered into New Look and came out with a lovely camel coat in the sales.

      Hi Roberta,

I think that shopping is the modern equivalent of indoor hunting.  Sometimes there’s game and sometimes there’s not.  On the plus side, there is no bag limit and it’s open all year.

Good luck on the next foray,

      Marg

Sometimes strike outs happen, they have with me many times. However, browsing is half the fun; right.

There’s a reason it’s called shopping and not buying. 😊

To me, more than half the fun is the shopping. I love looking at all the clothes, whether I need any or not. Finding something I just have to have is just an added bonus.

The shopping is always more fun than the buying.
