I have been a transgender for 4 years, but hrt hasn’t been working properly for me. I have no breast growth and am waiting for breast augmentation, and have been cleared by OHIP for free implants, but been waiting since November of 2022 for the call and am getting impatient because I want my breasts. I mean I feel less feminine without them. So I really want to be more feminine, but I also have problems putting on makeup to get that feminine appearance, still working on hair removal, not afraid to cross dress, but don’t have much to wear.

      Jezzka:

Clearly it is not the same as HRT and related steps, but I have been wearing first-rate breast forms ever since I started dressing.  As an interim step perhaps you should consider that until such time as the HRT begins to show better results.

As for makeup -all I can say is that I am one of MANY who still struggles with learning how to do it right.  Patience and practice are the two words to keep repeating!

Good luck on everything.  Join us here at CDH whenever you wish.  If I can help do not hesitate to contact me.

      Hi Jezzka,

Welcome to CDH.  Perhaps, it’s time to phone them and inquire bout your need for an appointment date.

Hey Jezzka you don’t say much about your HRT.  Just that it isn’t working.  Are you seeing a doc?  Are you getting labs done 3-4 times a year?  If yes, are you sure your estradiol and testosterone levels are in the female range?  What about DHT?  Every time I’ve heard a girl say HRT isn’t working, it’s because their program isn’t being properly managed.  I’m coming up on 2 years and it is definitely working.  I’m following a carefully managed program with a good doc.  One other thing.  If you get a BA with little or no breast tissue, it won’t look good.  I’d urge you to wait until you have decent size breasts.

      Hi Jezzica!

      First off, WELCOME to CDH!

If you are in (or close to Toronto,ON), check out Wildside.org.

I’ve been to that store many times, and it’s a very welcoming and safe space. They will very much take care of you.

One of these days, I’m going to do the 4-hour drive down to Toronto and get the full makeove and then head home. It’ll be the first time for me out dressed and all made up. 🙂

Again – WELCOME to CDH and good luck!

We make an assumption that you are following a medical path with HRT and if you feel it isn’t working then your physician is the one to ask your questions to. The effects are different from person to person but four years without any effect seems a little odd.

Like other girls I can only advise but seeing your physician is the first step.
