One reason that is applicable to a few different situations.
Over the garter belt…. Access access access
You need to use the restroom, pull them down and go.
You need them off for sex, but want the stockings on, pull them down and go.
Pick a reason, but if you like having the stocking on, and want the panties off…EVER…panties OVER the belt…easy…

We all need to use the restroom and it doesn’t matter if you are female or male, you need to pull your panties down. Garter belts should always be worn under your panties

Most of the time I will wear pantyhose ,but just for a change suspender belt and stockings with my panties over, all very sexy and as other girls have said makes it a lot easier if over the top when needing a wee . Michelle xx

A thong is easily moved out of the way and panties can still be pulled down far enough to sit and pee.

They have to be over. If you need to go to the washroom it will become a chore if they are under. I also have great difficulty fastening the garters so once they are done up I am not undoing them.

I wear my panties over the garterbelt. For me I just think it looks sexier and it just feels so very sensual to have my slips in direct contact with my panties. I also enjoy the tug of the garters as a lovely reminder of what I’m wearing. I do however wear thigh highs more often then a garterbelt and stockings, they are just so very fast and convenient to put on.

I tend to wear an obg thrse days so there is no option, it has to be panties underneath.when I do wear a suspender belt then panties will normally go over the top but I will very occasionally wear panties under the belt.

I’ve been wearing stockings and pantyhose since I was 4. Keeping my stockings up was always an issue, so I began wearing pantyhose most of the time and stockings rarely.
Even in my college years when I was Patty a lot, I always preferred sheer to waist pantyhose with very short dresses and skirts. I thought garters and stocking tops showing under my dress was not the look I wanted. I was intrigued by the sexy garter stockings that were available though.
A few years ago I decided I was going to experience garter belts and stockings. I bought a few garter belts and began looking for stockings. I could not find any in stores. I ended up buying a few pairs online.
They were fun to wear and I enjoyed wearing them out to parties and showing off a bit. Still I’m much more comfortable in pantyhose. When I do wear the garter belt, I wear my panties under the garter belt.

Nice reply! I too have a preference for pantyhose on most occasions but just recently have become more exotic and began mixing them up with garters and stockings. I had forgotten how erotic they can feel.

I guess that I’m more of a traditionalist in that I usually wear my panties under my garter belt. For appearance sake, I have always felt that the garter belt flattered and added to the allure of the panties if the panties were located under, even as that look complicated my going to the bathroom issues. However, I remember a female co-worker from many years ago who told me how difficult and time-consuming it was for her to go to the bathroom (on a limited time schedule) at work while wearing a one-piece jumpsuit! I’ve never tried that, but believe that undoing a couple of garters is probably an easier task than wiggling out of a jumpsuit!
But, if I am planning for the evening to end in romance, then I will probably wear my panties over my garters so that I can remove them sometime in the evening before my partner has a chance to lift up my skirt and … (to be continued at another time)!

The panty over is definitely more convenient when nature calls. The panty under shows off the garter belt more for a sexier look. When I go out on the days of my CD/TG support group meetings, I wear Leg Avenue suspender hose more than my garter belt & stockings. I always wear my panty over the suspender hose.

I used to buy garter stockings from the Hanes outlet store or their website. A few years ago the stockings were discontinued. They do carry thigh highs.

I read recently that back in the day women who wore their panties over their garter belt were thought if as being loose women. Prim and proper women always wore their panties under their garter belt.

I only have one garter belt and I don’t wear it very much since I like wearing thigh high stockings more than stockings that have to be held up with graters But I have to admit that while I was in Las Vegas attending a conference on the night of the banquet I got dressed up in a gown and I wore a grater belt with stockings because it seemed like it was sexier than thigh high stockings and yes I wore panties over the garter belt for the convenience when I used the ladies room

I have dealt with nylondreams and nylonz in the Uk. Great service. I think that both of these companies have straps from 4-14, so go for it. The belts with larger number of straps do cost more but feel so good. Check out the girdles to, give a great deal of support. Talking of which the larger number of straps keep our stockings in place.
Plus use the usual Amazon, Alibaba and eBay and you will be surprised what crops up. I have used Alibaba and got some great deals on stockings.

I guess my biggest thing is the covering the lace and frills and sheer sexiness that comes with a garter belt. I understand that unless you are in the bedroom with just your bra, panties, garter belt and thigh highs on, no one is going to see it, but the thought of covering up that exquisite piece of my outfit is a travesty.
Maybe that’s why the suggestion of no panties was given. That’s a great idea, but I do love my panties.
I love my garter belt. I love the feeling of the back garters gently pressing against my legs as I walk. I can’t do stay up thigh highs, they irritate my legs and annoy me.

If you go to journelle.com and look in their garter and stocking section, you will the models wearing the sets both over and under the garter/suspenders. I believe it is a combination of how high the belt is worn in conjunction with the style of panty that is matched with it. Those sets are truly dreamy too.

Why are we even talking about garter belts? Talk about out of date!
Wearing pantyhose is great because they help smooth out our legs. If we want to add a sexier dimension how about thigh highs? If you buy a decent pair, and the right size, they will stay up, and you won’t feel the circulation to your legs is being compromised either.

If I expect to need to remove my panties I wear them over the garters. If my purpose is to allow my skirt to ride up and show off to truckers while driving, I wear them under. Of course there is the third option….no panties!

Hello Skye, As other girls have said, knickers over the top of the suspender belt [ garter]. I always thought that what ladies did, when you see pictures of underwear models in magazines they appear to be wearing their knickers on top. Also when going to the bathroom it is so much easier, just pull down your knickers & go. I do wear suspenders/stockings some times, but as a rule I prefer tights [ pantyhose].

My first nylons at age 4 was garter stockings. I liked them but keeping them up was always a problem. My grandmother trying to come up with a solution to keep my stockings up. She just thought I should wear pantyhose. That was totally fine as pantyhose stayed up by themselves and I love them.
Still, looking back though, I wish I had been able to wear the stockings with a garter belt.
A few years ago decided to make that wish come true. I bought a few garter belts with matching bra and panty. I was so excited. I excitedly headed off to get some matching garter stockings. I found nothing, going through nearly every store in the mall. Not like it used to be. There was so many choices in garter stockings, thigh highs and pantyhose. I miss those days.
So unfortunately for now at least my experience and knowledge of garter belts is very little.

That makes it so much easier when going to the bathroom. Plus it is easier if you want to keep your stockings on and take your panties off (in a restaurant for example as in “Fifty Shades of Gray” not that I’ve ever done it…….yet).
