Hi, I am a long time off and on casual dresser.  I want to explore this further and deeper.  Would love to pick the thoughts of some others who have experienced the  cycle of excitement, dressing, shame and puarging…over and over again.  How did you overcome this?

Hello Jenni welcome to CDH I am glad you have shared a part of who you are and found us and made the step to become part of a family that is welcoming, understanding, compassionate, and supportive. While we are all similar desires to dress feminine, having purged, wanting to look pretty or sexy we have many of the same desires yet we all differ on our goals or public expression and or level of personal experiences. I encourage you to explore the many forums, topics, polls and member biographies found here as there are a wide range of members all over the spectrum of feminine expression or those on the path to transition and those that have. There are also links to websites that have products and services that may help you on your own personal path of acceptance and self expression. Ultimately it is a place, home, or world were you can feel feel comfortable and confident in who you are; as being who you truly are as your authentic self of you being a man, a woman, or expressing your feminine desires feelings and or qualities. I am happy you are here and have made a choice to accept this part of yourself as self acceptance is the most important thing you can do for yourself and others. You can’t expect others to accept you if you don’t accept yourself all of you. As you are sharing a part of your authentic self here on CDH it ultimately lifts some of the burden that you may be feeling which many of us have carried for what seems like a lifetime you are not alone. I am happy you have made the step to be here. Welcome!

      Hugs April

Hi Jenni, and welcome to a place where making friends and sharing experiences is easy and fun to do. Though I now live in Arizona I was born and raised near Chicago, and am still a loyal Cubs fan. Luckily they play their “Cactus League” spring training games not far from me so I have many opportunities to go and met folks from back home. I think you are taking the right approach in talking “baby steps” in your journey of feminine exploration. Though I have never been through a ‘purge cycle’ I did take a very long hiatus from CD’ing, only returning about six years ago. I am now 75 and having more fun as Paulette than I could ever imagine. She makes me feel younger, and from what I have been told I look it as well (which is the result of a lot of face-lift tape and MUCH makeup, but then that is the price of beauty (LOL)! I look forward to hearing more from you. Have a Merry Christmas. Hugs, Paulette

Hi Jenni, welcome to cdh. First, I grew up in the western burbs of Chicago, Brookfield, LaGrange, Hanover Park and St. Charles. Moved from there some years ago, but I enjoy going back.  Also was a stockboy at Marshall Fields downtown, and after college and service worked at Harris Bank downtown.

Anyway, about your question, well, I dressed (bought clothes, cosmetics, etc.) and then purged, oh, maybe 3 or 4 times over maybe 15 years.  Finally figured out, the desires and needs would never ever go away, so over time I just learned to live with it, and then enjoy it when I was able.  Of course, during all this time, I read a lot, about how some were studying and writing about gender dysphoria trying to explain it (maybe to a little bit), but mostly reading stories of others (watching all those talk shows on TV) and realizing I wasn’t alone. (this was all pre-and some early internet era – 70’s-90’s. ) Finally decided I was who I was and it was a part of me and might as well accept it, with no (or maybe very very little) shame, there is still some stigma attached, which hopefully will soon be long gone).

So, lots of support here, lots of stories and shared experiences, kind and sharing people.

      Hugs, ChloëC

      Hi Jenni,
Welcome to CDH, a large and welcoming family. It’s a pleasure to meet you here.
Here you will be able to exchange opinions and information and find support to go forward in your enfemme adventure.
Have fun participating in the forums, polls and questionnaires.
Here no one is judged, but always welcomed with a warm embrace.

I’m Greta, a 56-year-old cd/tg person (I’m taking my first steps in hrt); with a life that is a bit complicated by having to hide my gender identity…..when I’m alone at home and I know I have no guests, I’m Greta, if I’m at work or I have guests at home, I’m Greta, externally dressed as Mr. Antonio (lol) but I’m wearing women’s underwear.

Hello Jenni, it is a real struggle. I have gone through this myself. I finally got to the point were I looked back and realized that this is who I am and I shouldn’t have any shame and should accept it. I told wife which meant no going back. 🙂 I am so happy that I am at this point on my journey where I can be me.

I hope this helps. There are many great encouraging ladies here who would be happy to share their story as experiences with you. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk more.

      Welcome to CDH, Jessica
