Im very curious on why and how everyone has come up with their name???
- August 11, 2019 at 3:50 pm #206592
The name just came to me one night out of the blue.I just thought it was an age appropriate name and a pretty one at that. For years my femme name was Belinda a name I still love.My wife doesn’t like it.She is happy for me to call me Roberta. She often shortens it to Rob.That’s fine.I am quite happy to be called Bobbie too.

A single letter + the first half of my single favorite women’s clothing item. Just quick thinking as I was creating my account here.

I remember my mum telling me when I was a kid that if I’d been a girl (she didn’t resent me not being a girl) I would have been called Helen Elizabeth. (I have been known as Tanya before. Don’t know why I picked that name!🤪). Helen.

When i was a child my parents called me Bobby(the masculine form). Now as i identify my feminine persona i just find the feminine Bobbie to be natural and unpretentious

I just sounded like a fun name, but a little off-center. I am a computer geek, but I love gardening, especially flowers. Flowers any time or anywhere delight me. I like to be pretty.

Hi Sammy, picking my name was really easy. My Mom named me. She would always tell me that I should have been born a girl (and she wanted a daughter so bad and instead got two boys). So one time I asked her, “if I had been born a girl, what would you have named me?” Without blinking she told me “Krista”. I immediately fell in love with it and used it ever since. One of my big regrets is that we never got to go out as Mom and daughter. She passed away not long after giving me my name. I’m sure she would have accepted me as a CD. But I’m very thankful that she did give me my name.
Hugs, Krista.

Mine is not very original, it’s just the feminine version of my name.

Thank you ladies for all the interesting ways that we got our names.
I TOOK mine from an ex girl friend. Her name was Samantha her last name started with a Z . She was what sexy is all about. When we broke up she left a ton of panties and clothes behind. I didn’t date for a while I did dress a lot during that time with her panties being the center piece of my outfit. I started calling my self Sammy Z. During that period is when I first went out in public as Sammy and explored a few other things.

My wife came up with it. My wife was always better at coming up with names. So, she came up with several names that used the same first letter of my given name. Charlotte Rose really called to me and so I chose it.
We also use Charlotte as kind of a code between us when we are shopping and I’m not out as Charlotte. My wife or me will see something and will ask the other if Charlotte would like the item.

I didn’t have one before CDH so I had to come up with one before I registered. I googled a list of female baby names. I was hoping I wouldn’t make it all the way through and have to start over again. I didn’t have to worry about that. Autumn jumped out at me. I had seen the name somewhere else earlier that day but couldn’t remember where. It felt right. For a last name I looked up synonyms for brave because I was a bit scared (translate as nearly terrified) to sign up for CDH.

Well, when I was younger as a kid in the 80’s my little sister was given a American Girl Doll as a gift and the doll’s name was…Samantha! I distinctly remember the doll’s name and the box she was packaged in and everything. So now some decades later I wanted to use that name to represent who I am; an American girl! I also just found a great movie called “Her” with a character named Samantha too, but this was not how my name was chosen. I feel like her name found me that day. I have located the American Doll “Samantha on eBay, I really should buy her.

My first name, Amy, like a previous poster said, rather chose me. At the end of last year, as my femme identity was starting to gain on my male self, I thought that she needed a name, then almost immediately the name “Amy” came into my mind. Don’t know why or where, then I thought of some others, Linda being one of them, as I’ve known several women of that name, and all were beautiful. But no other name seemed as right, so Amy, I am!
When I went to join CDH, I needed a last name, and this is how I decided on “Myers”. The actor and comedian Mike Myers grew up not far from where I used to live in Scarborough, Ontario,, and he even dressed up as a woman in one of his films, so that seemed to be a good fit.

As I wrote in my profile Gisela is from two successful women I admire the most. The same as the name of Claudine. Three very close and dear friends. When I was a child I dreamed of being a twin of one of those Gisela. I love the name.

The name Megan just came to me one day decades ago. It shares the same first letter as my (completely silly) middle name, and many people I’ve known use their middle names instead of their first names. Megan B just feels natural. Many times I’ve thought of having my middle name changed to Megan and switching the gender variant on my first name.

Charmagne is named after a very special young girl. She is an earth bound spirit who crashes my REM sleep from time to time and shares her life experiences with me through vivid dreams, mostly in her school and sometimes in her neighborhood. She is African American, about 10 years old, and was either born in 1959 or died in that year at a young age. I believe it was the former. I also believe she manifests in my subconscious because she finds me to be both a father figure and feminine figure. We seem to find comfort in each other’s presence. I couldn’t imagine life without her, but one day she’ll cross over. I’ll miss her when that happens, but I’ll be very happy for her.
in the meantime, I’ll just enjoy experiencing her life’s memories while I’m curled up in a chemise or a bralette and pantyhose.

Hi. I am Charlene Victoria.
Even as I was growing up I knew I that I wanted to be a girl. Oooh, I longed for girlhood so deeply.
As a teen robbed of my girlhood because I was male, I worked with the perfection of feminity. In everyway she was the lady I dreamed of becoming. It was natural upon understanding I wanted to be a woman because at heart I am a woman to take my girlhood heroine’s name, Charlene.
I always thought the nickname Vickie, short for Victoria, was so feminine. I liked Victoria for it means victory. Should I ever successfully transition it would be a victory to be sure. Thus I took a middle name that would declare that personal victory. And being Victoria, I could naturally enjoy the shortened name Vickie.
Finally Charlene may be somewhat cumbersome, so to my friends I have shortened it to Charrie.
Peace
Charrie

Toni is a slight abbreviation of my real name with one letter changed. When I was thinking of my femme name I researched a lot of other ladies and saw a friends name change, and this gave me an idea and I ran with it, Her name is Danielle…..guess her real name.
Heels is the one item of clothing that to me signifies a lady and I adore wearing. Stilettos are my fav, have yet to acquire a pair.

I had never thought about a femme name until I joined this site. I pondered over it for about an hour or two, going through hundreds of names. When Ruby came up, it just clicked in my head that was going to be it. I continued thinking of names, and kept coming back to it, so I knew that was going to be it.
Hugs, Ruby

I always wore nice pantyhose when I went out to parties. I called myself Debbie Daniels back then. we used to get name tags. Some girls teased me and called me Panty Hose. They gave me a name tag with Panty Hose on it. Then one time the n was written very small and it looked like Paty Hose.
Next time I just told them to call me Patty Hose. Then I kind of did a play on pantyhose, calling it PH. I used to Ph instead of the H. Kind of becoming Patty Pantyhose. it became kind of a fun teasing eventually settling on and becoming Patty Phose.

My wife and I planned a trip to Palm Springs, California that was to be at the beginning of January, 2014. We were considering it as a possible place to retire. She asked me if I was going to take any clothes for dress up. I hadn’t thought about it before, but I decided Yes!
I started looking for someone to do private makeup lessons, but there wasn’t anyone remotely close to my small town of Corning, New York. However, I had been traveling to the Atlanta, Georgia area periodically to visit a company that made packaging equipment. I found a woman about 25 miles outside of Atlanta who was formerly a makeup person for movie and theater companies and was now semi-retired. She offered makeup services for crossdressers and trans folks and had a ton of clothes for photo shoots. I made an appointment with her during the Fall of 2013.
She and her husband lived on a farmette and her business was housed in a 2-story, 2-car garage. Downstairs was a huge closet that took up most of one bay. There was also a kitchenette, a breakfast nook and a small living area. Upstairs was a bedroom, a makeup area, mirrors and wig and shoe storage.
As I was unpacking the clothes I brought for the photo shoot, she asked me what my fem name was. I didn’t have one as it didn’t seem like a priority, but that got me to thinking about it.
There would be some logic to selecting Donna as my legal name is Donald, but that didn’t have much appeal to me. However, I did want a name that started with “D”. A few months went by and it finally occurred to me. I’ve been a motorsports fan since I was a kid. Over 55+ years (I am now 71) I’ve been to all sorts of race track all across the US. What I remembered was that Mario Andretti’s wife (who has since passed away) was Dee Ann. I chose that, but without the space, so that it might discourage people from shortening it to Dee. Mostly that has worked as very few call me Dee.
If you are interested in the services I mentioned, do a search for Phoebe Cross. She’s very helpful and a very understanding and non-judgemental person. I definitely recommend her!

The short version of this is in my profile but here is a more complete version.
After the breakdown of my 33 year marriage, I started exploring a few online chat sites and made friends with a lovely lady. As you all one know, identities on these sites are usually outrageous, the more ridiculous the better.
After establishing that we were both real people and not stalkers, we started to chat on MSN and during an early chat she said “you can call me Rose.” When, in my naivety, I asked what she meant by “you can call me” she replied that you never use you real name online. The digital silence was deafening… “Oh…”
We spent some time exploring names I could use online, and eventually settled on Max. I liked this for many reasons & decided that my online name would be Max Guaranteed, middle name: Satisfaction. (I was such a dick back then).
A few years later, having met Tanya (her kids still call me Max to this day)and starting to explore the wonderful CD world, I needed a femme name. Maxine was a no-brainer.
My best friend growing up had the surname Doos. He died, tragically rather young and when I discovered that, in Afrikaans, this is a part of the female anatomy, it just really made sense.
So I am Maxine Doos.

My name was chosen by my wife’s mother on our first meeting as my she self, oh! you must be Alana.Very strait forward one letter added to my christian name, but each time my wife attempted to register ! we were told the name is currently in use. She tried several times to no avail,so eventually i came up with Py, i was just desperate for a name that would not be rejected and Marshall was the surname of the last person to call us on the phone prior to successfully registering. So Py Marshall was born, i am still called Alana at home ,but i do like Py.xx

My name came from a woman named Catherine who, some 40 years ago came to our house on her way to a formal ball. She looked stunning, perfect hair and make up and dressed in a flowing apricot chiffon ballgown and I took her name from then on. I also feel my love of formal gowns stemmed a lot from that night
The second name “Louise” came from the fact it seemed to “flow” with Catherine.
So Catherine Louise Ryan at your service.
Not a drop of Irish blood in my veins and nowhere near religious, but a very Catholic “moniker”, t’ be sure

I’m not sure I chose Elizabeth as my fem. name. I didn’t begin puberty when I was about nineteen or twenty years old and with puberty came the desire to wear girl’s clothes. That desire simply came with a name. Not sure if this explanation makes sense.
Your sister, Elizabeth

When I was Younger and starting to find my femme self, I chose Jasmine because it shares the same beginning as my given name, Andrew is an old family name, and my mother was a bit of a free spirit, so I could have been Jasmine… or Persoponie… she was reading Bullfinch’s Mythology in the hospital

I was deciding between Jessica or Veronica. But something kept pulling me towards Jessica so I just went with it. Charms is the funny part though. While you could say it’s for my personality, I think we can see what it’s really for.
I had gotten the idea for it from an adult model I had seen once on TV. Chelsea Charms. So Jessica since it seemed to call to me. And Charms, inspired by Chelsea. And that’s how I got my name Jessica Charms.

Mia is not too distant from my actual first name, so it’s easy to remember and recognize when my wife is addressing me. And Riggs, because I’m a (sexy) Lethal Weapon. LOL!

My name, Rose, came about because I was visiting a small lingerie shop whose owner insisted I have a feminine first name – she suggested Rose and Marilyn and I decided on the former. Now, of course, this is always the name she uses to chat to me. And with emails she refers to me as ‘girlfriend’ – isn’t that lovely!

i got the name susan from my last girlfriend,
she was pretty ok with me dressing and she would also wear some of my stuff sometimes,

I didn’t choose my name. When my sister and her friend first put me in a dress and panties at 5 yrs old gave it to me by just adding an ‘A’ to my boy name. I liked it immediately and have used it ever since, with a couple of short term tryouts with something different. But I always came back to Paula and have been her for 30 years now.

I have been thinking a lot about names, and if I would change mine. I have been going though a bit of a name journey….I have not come out on the other side, but would like to share where I am at.
Names are important, it needs to feel right and “speak to you”. Names also reflect how others see you. The name you have now, you might feel different about if you were to use it in daily life, or update your legal documents.
Growing up I always thought of my female name as Michelle. It is the female gender version of my birth name. It means “who is like god”, no pressure, eh? It also triggered me a bit, as I rejected it (too strongly) and was so worried of being called this by misspelling my name as Micheal instead of Michael (I’m slightly dyslexic…and yes I often misspelled my own name). I feel differently now….it feels familiar & feminine.
Justine Tyme is a play on words meaning “Just in time”.
I chose this name due to how I feel “saved” by embracing my female core. I had repressed for so long. No matter how successful I was, how much I proved myself, internally I was broken and felt like nothing could make me truly happy or at peace.
Justine to me sounds feminine & intelligent. It also means “just” or “righteous”. One definition of “righteous” is “being in right relation to others”. Another as someone who’s “actions are justified” or has “been “judged” or “reckoned” as leading a life that is pleasing to God”. I find this last interpretation paradoxical due to moral ridicule transgender people often face compared with how “right” I often feel as Justine.
I have also been considering Katherine, preferably Kate, as it is a family name, one I might have been named if I was born female. I like that it can be shorted to K or Kit. Whereas abbreviations for Justine are Tina or Justy…which I am not totally wild about.
I am thinking I’ll land on one of these:
- Michelle Justine <lastname> // Bonus “MJ” for short
- Justine Michelle <lastname>
- Kate Justine <lastname>
What’s in a name? Everything…
