If yes, how often do you read? Who’s your favorite author? favorite book? For me I’ll read at least two or three short stories off amazon prime, (all free to read with subscription).

I love reading memoirs. A few I found to be great stories, Redifining Realness by Janet Mock. A transwoman and a great story about her life growing up. Alice in Genderland by Dr. Richard Novic. His life of being a crossdresser. Great story. And I just finished Sissy a coming of gender story. Jacob  Tobia talks about growing up and coming to understand being Genderqueer. Each of these books on Audiobooks allows you to hear the author tell their story. And they are fantastic voices the need to be heard. Try them.

        Hi Emily.

I suggest you read the novel Frills, by Alicia Snowfall, available on Kindle. It was originally published on Bigclosetr.us and there are tons of stories with CD/TG motifs there, all free to read without membership or subscription. Many sweet and kind like Frills, but also manyn racy, dark and some really disturbing (just to warn you). The oes I like best are those dealing with young aspiring girls finding their true selves. A story you must read is the one simply bearing your name, Emily, by Sarah Lynn Morgan, one of the most touching l have ever read and one that still makes me cry just thinking about it. Other good authors there are Jennifer Sue, Susan Brown and Tiffany Sharr. That reminds me about the first part of A Summers Odyssè by Jennifer Sue is now also published on Kindle.

My favorite book is a fiction novel by Brian Katcher titled ‘Almost Perfect’ about a TG teen dealing with her senior year of high school…Interesting with a innocent romantic plot..

He also wrote another book called ‘Playing with Matches’ about girl that was disfigured in a fire and then boy who likes her.

Otherwise I spend time at http://www.fictionmania.tv

I also have a personal journal full of romance fantasies…wink

      Hugs,

      Morgan

I have been reading books such as My Husband Betty by Helen Boyd, which is a good for its time.  Right now I am working through Kate Bornstein’s Gender Outlaws.    It is amazing once you start looking of how much literature is out there.

      Hugs,

      Michelle

I read virtually everyday in Fictionmania, Big Closet and many of the stories on amazon kindle unlimited for crossdressing. And there are all the you tube videos. Not reading but ….

In terms of crossdessing I seem to recall reading The Lazy Crossdresser many years ago, but haven’t bothered with much else since.

I can recommend ‘Yes, You Are Trans Enough’ by Mia Violet, which is one woman’s journey of discovering her true self, but contains much that would resonate with many of us.

Here are a few of my favorites off Amazon Prime.

Prom Changed Everything by N. L. Paradox, This is a full novel, the first few chapters are somewhat dark, and scary. But stay with it and it gets much better. It’s about a young teen who’s forced to cope with a transgender change he neither wanted or asked for, but finds his life is much improved by it. There are however some rather nasty villains in the story, so be warned.

Copy, Cure. by leslie Mooore, If you like sci-fi and are tired of all the first time fem, short stories that involve young petite men, and are half sex scenes. this one’s a refreshing change. Also a bit longer than most, I feel the author could have expanded thin one into a full length novel or even a series of books. This is another where the main character finds a transgender change forced on him, but finds his life is vastly improved by it. Also one nasty villain throw in!

A few authors to follow. however many crank out the same basic plot, but are still good reads.

Nikki Cresent, Dozens and Dozens of 1st time fem shorts yet well written.

Barbra Deloto/Thomas Newgen, – same as above, I’m currently reading one of theirs.

      D.L. Savage.

      Ava Hayes.

My desire to crossdress derives from an early age and playing sexualized games with a neighbor girl. (I’ll leave for another time how I made the leap to cross dressing.)

In my fantasies, the crossdressing is associated with sexual submission, female domination, etc. I’ve found a wealth of books that treat those topics on Amazon. The quality varies from awful to readable, but they are usually available for free on kindle through Amazon Prime. It’s pretty easy and, more importantly, cost free to abandon the awful ones with little investment in time.

When I was young, I came across a book about Christine Jorgensen, the title of which I do not recall. It was definitely “out there” in that earlier time.

Over the years I’ve read the “My Husband Betty” style of book and also, like others in this post have spent a lot of time reading on sites like Fictionmania.

Given my liking for female period fashion, I also love the stories of fellas being dressed in crinolines and corsets etc.

In earlier years I really enjoyed the ones with some (“ahem”) erotic content, but that’s faded a bit these days

To REALLY show my age, I had quite a collection of the old “World of Transvestism” mags and even had some stories printed in it.

Frock” was a very good  English on line mag until a couple of years ago. But it obviously went “bust”.

Like others on here I enjoy Fiction Mania and Big Closet for short stories, but enjoy hunting for novels with a trans theme embedded into the plot.

These are not often portrayed as trans novels as the trans side is in passing to the main narrative.

One of the recent ones I have read include ‘’Dangerous Crossing’’   by Rachel Rhys has been a popular book since its publishing and has been included in popular literary recommendations in the UK. The story focuses on a woman who is sailing from the UK to Australia just before the start of the second world war, to work as a ladies maid. ….. you’ll have to read the rest to save spoilers !

Aside to that … another great book is  ’Trans Britain – our journey from the shadows’’ by Chritine Burns, with is a factual book on transgender history in the UK. I was honoured to be asked to contribute to the book and provided information on my experiences of the past and supply some of the background literature to support the research and illustrate the book.

Its a fabulous read and gives an account of an important period in the UK for the transgender movement.

(both books are available on Amazon)

      Enjoy !

I haven’t read cross-dressing fiction, but for those interested in sociological and psychological context I recommend:

      — VESTED INTERESTS, by Marjorie Garber, a Harvard English professor and Shakespeare specialist who has done extensive research on cross-dressing throughout history.

      — MAN-MADE WOMAN: THE DIALECTICS OF CROSSDRESSING, by Colin (aka Ciara) Cremin, who teaches sociology at the University of Aukland. Don’t be put off by the academic subtitle. Cremin writes mainly aboutpersonal experience, from his first furtive attempts to the day he decided, what the hell, I’ll just show up for my university lecture en femme and see what happens. Nobody commented. As time went on he confided with women and sought their fashion advice. You can find pictures of the photogenic Ciara online. She doesn’t much care about passing (and is critical of Lucille Sorella’s emphasis on that), instead seeking the goal of doing a great job though not passing. The book offers this anecdote to make the point: A female acquaintance who had been out of touch saw Ciara from a distance in a department store and thought to herself, That is the best-dressed women I’ve seen all day — perfect nails, flattering dress and shoes. On second glance: Wait a minute — that’s a man. On third glance: Omigod, that’s Colin.

Both books are available at Amazon.

This may be a bit off-subject, but a short story by Ruth Rendell has been turned into a movie with the same title, THE NEW GIRLFRIEND. It’s French film directed by Francois Ozon, and is available online. Two girls grow up as closest friends. One of them marries, has a baby and then dies of cancer. The grieving young woman accidentally comes upon the husband feeding the baby while in his wife’s clothes. The plot is complicated and ultimately positive. This is a serious treatment of crossdressing as a normal and understandable activity.

…and TransLiving magazine from the UK.

    • #250203

I have in fact read quite a few stories.  Some where a man  is caught dressing by his wife then forced into a life of forced sex and humiliation, some where children are groomed by an evil granny with butt plugs, diapers and hormones and then forced into a life of forced sex and humiliation and of course the magical changes where a man goes to bed and wakes up as a female who is either a nymphomaniac or forced into a life of forced sex and humiliation.

      Not too many happy endings…….Sally

I wrote earlier about serious non-fiction nooks and a serious, amusing movie with a happy ending, “The New Girlfriend,” which I recommend. (Kanopy has it online.)

Since seeing the movie I have been able to obtain the short story of the same title by the eminent mystery writer Ruth Rendell. It’s from a short story collection of the same name published in 1985, and perhaps difficult to find today.

The movie director, Francois Ozon, took almost nothing from the literary source except the excellent title. Rendell wrote a psychological study that ends unhappily with a twist. In the story the there is no child, just two fairly prosperous young British couples who socialize. Catherine is attracted to Chris, the husband of her friend, when she accidentally discovers that he cross dresses. Chris passes so well that he attracts attention and even flirts with men when the two are in public. Catherine enjoys being with him because when he is en femme she feels safe. Catherine, it eventually becomes clear, hates sex and barely tolerates her husband. Because Davis is heterosexual, this does not end well.

No need to read this story, though it is well done. See the movie instead.
