      Hey Ladies

I wonder how we came up with a female name. For years I wondered what it would be. I tried Becky, Brandy and many others but none seem to fit. I have always loved the name Danielle. But never thought of it as my lady name. But the first time I said that out loud. It fit. The silverfeather part came from a gift I was given by someone very dear to me. Who passed away.

      That’s my story

      Love

      Danielle

Good topic, Danielle… and I love your name BTW!

When I first went to a gender support group a few years back, I just used a feminine version of my male name. It didn’t feel right to me, but I was still in the early stages of trying to understand this part of myself, so I didn’t give it much thought at the time.

When I really started to try and get serious about accepting this earlier this year, I decided to choose my name carefully. I used to have a girlfriend with a two-part first name, and I always thought that sounded cute and feminine. I knew I wanted “Ann” to be part of my name, so that was an early decision. For the first name, I made out a long list of all the women’s names I liked, and considered it carefully for about a week. “Stacy” just sounded the most like the type of woman I would want to be.

Since I was already in for two first names, I decided to just go ahead and get a third feminine name for my last name! Why not? lol!

May has two meanings for me. It was the month this year when I finally decided to try and come to terms with this, and “Mae” was Bettie Page’s middle name, so it’s a tribute to her as well.

Using only a single letter and “swim” because of my addiction to swimsuits was the quickest thing I could think of when signing up. Since almost nobody here is using their birth given names, I think mine might stick.

The first time I ventured out fully fem was for a college Halloween party when I was 18. I had chosen Debbie Daniels as my name for that party. I was wearing very nice, shiny sheer to waist pantyhose with stripper heels and a very short dress. I got lots of compliments and attention on my legs and pantyhose. I met other dressers there and often attended their dress up and fetish parties.

I always wore the nicest looking pantyhose I could find and would wear them with sexy heels and very short dresses or skirts. I always enjoyed the attention and compliments my legs wouod get. At one of the parties, because of the attention getting pantyhose I always wore, a girl decided to call me Panty Hose. I liked that. It got me even more attention and was an ice breaker for those who wanted to meet me.

Then at one party the “n” in “Panty” was written kind of small and it looked like my name was Paty Hose. From then on I decided to replace the “n” with a “t’ and I became Patty Hose. For a while I called myself Patty P Hose as an acronym for pantyhose. Then I just changed it to Patty Phose.

Hello Danielle,           I may have mentioned this before, but I will tell you again. Helenmarie is two names put together, Helen comes from a girl at school, she was about 14 [ so was I ] & she became my 1st girlfriend.  Marie was the little girl next door, she was 5 when she & her family arrived & she was 25 when she left, so I saw her grow up all those years. I thought I like both names, so I put them together & so Helenmarie  was born.            love,  Helenmarie

I’m half Italian and about 10 years ago when I first started dressing I googled for the Italian word for a particular kind of woman.  It’s kind of risque, and “D” is only the first letter of my full gurl name (PM me if you want to know the full name).  But “D” also fit perfectly with what my last name would be today if, at Ellis Island, they hadn’t picked two random syllables out my grandfather’s original six syllable last name: “DiGiambattista” (meaning “of John the Baptist”).

And that’s how I came up with “D Giambattista” for this site 😉

Hi Danielle, coming up with my name was super easy.  All my life my Mom told me I should have been born a girl.  So during one visit with her before she passed away, I asked her what would she have named me if I had been born a girl.  Mom said “Krista” without blinking.  And I loved it immediately.  Hugs, Krista

Rather than use a feminized version of my own christian name I wanted something different. I looked up lists of women’s name and one really appealed to me – Alicen.

After a while I realised why – when I was in my early teens one of my friends had a younger sister named Alicen who I got to now really well – she always wore nice clothes and pretty summer dresses.

    • #199177

For me, it was much more simple. I’ve always liked the name Emma, and it’s one I’m comfortable with. I’ve known a few other Emmas over the years (cis folks) but I’m not named after any of them, so to speak.

      Good poll!

      Emma

I’ve had quite a few femme names in my lifetime,  my first was Judy when i started dressing, don’t know why but it just struck something within me, later on i started using the name Stevie in honor of Stevie Nicks, then i became Laurie, then Joanne and finally i settled on Renee, when i was young there was a girl at school named Renee and i had quite a crush on her, so it was the name i wanted and added the middle name Elizabeth.  When I hear the names Renee Elizabeth i think of a very beautiful woman and i definitely enjoy dressing as a  beautiful woman.  🙂

My wife picked it for me.

She hosted a murder mystery party a couple of years ago, and my costume and name were chosen by her. The costume is on my profile page. Those boots are still my favourite footwear ever, but I don’t get many chances to wear them, alas!

      I couldn’t believe my luck!

I felt amazing all through that party, especially as most of her closest female friends were there!!!

I didn’t want to pick something that could be shortened to gender neutral e.g. Samantha (Sam) or Ashley (Ash) – even though those are beautiful names.

I also didn’t want pick a name of any women I know in real life as for some reason I though it might be awkward in later life when I’m hopefully full time. This unfortunately ruled out another lot of beautiful names.

I was looking over various names and it just hit me, Jennifer (Jenny). Its was me, the real me.

My older sis and her friend Stephanie named me the day they put that first dress and panties on me when I was 5.  Sis knew a girl in school named Paula, so they just added the last ‘a’ and the name has stuck, and I think they were right, way back then.

      Love,

      Paula

Hi Danielle.  I picked Rachel because I loved how beautiful the name is & due to Rachael Ray.  Williams, being my drab middle name, minus the S.  I even picked my middle name, Karana, from one of my favorite novels as a kid, “Island Of The Blue Dolphins” by Scott O’Dell.  I found the name to be beautiful (and besides, what girl doesn’t like being a little exotic, hehehe).

    • #207399

Yes I do wonder how some of us came up with her name’s cuz it took me a few tries to come up with my name I first started with the name Meadow then I changed it to Anastasia then I changed it to the Greek goddess Persephone then I changed it to the name Keida and then finally I decided to do and change my name to my fraternal twin sisters middle name who passed away from domestic violence back in 2015 to my present name in honor of her. Keilani Simone Johnson is the name I chose. Johnson is my real last name.💋💋

I chose Cali because I always wanted to name my daughter Cali.

When I was much younger and first beginning to experiment with crossdressing, I discovered some magazines of my father’s that featured Bettie Paige.  I was immediately hooked and have wanted to be her ever since

I’ve read some classic literature in my time, including Don Quixote. I had to envision the possibility that Don Quixote’s fantasy lady love, Dulcinea del Toboso, was really a male in female’s clothes. So, I picked Dulcinea (Dulci for short) as my lady name.

      Hello
      I femized my Name

    • #232312

Hello Danielle; Thank you for posting this question. I’ve answered this in another forum post, I’ll post my answer here too.

My full fem name is Brittney Diana Andrews(non legal). I have a fondness for the United Kingdom and Great Britain. Brittney is a form of Britain and uses some letters of my real first name. Diana, from Diana Princess of Wales. Lastly, My real last name is of Scots origin. I chose the city of St. Andrews, Scotland to represent my fem last name.

For me I was deciding on either Jessica or Veronica. I liked both of those names, but after a while I started leaning towards Jessica. It was something about the name that I liked and it just stayed with me. So when I started dressing more and more I just started using it. As for the charms part, well um, I think those are noticable in my pictures. But it could also be cause I like talking with people and usually find it charming. But yeah I think the first part is more accurate.

    • #234221

My profile says “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you”.

That’s because Charmagne is the name of an earth bound spirit who has been invading my deep sleep regularly for well over a year, but in a very good way.  She is a sweet, happy little girl who died very young it would seem…maybe 10 or 11.  When she takes over my dreams, we go to her favorite places, especially her school playground.  I recognize many of her friends each time.  They talk to me…to us…and that’s how I’ve learned so much about her.

Sometimes we’re in her neighborhood.  She lived with her mom and her grandpa.  He’s the one who calls us CharChar.  That became part of my handle.  The 1959 is the year I believe she was born.  I’ve heard it in conversations she’s had.  My guess is she died around 1970, because she’s never been older than a grade schooler.

I’m so lucky to have her presence.  Even if it’s just when I’m dreaming.  I suspect she found me to be both a father figure and a feminine persona, and that’s why she chose me.  I hope tonight is a CharChar night.  Haven’t heard from her in a few days.  I’ll miss her if/when she crosses over, but for now, she’s my precious little companion.

Name of Margarita came from sister, everybody just calls her Margoth for short, anyway remembering wearing her makeup and clothes while she was in the red-light area of Colombia, couldn’t wear mother Stella’s makeup because she was using it to hide bruises from father Edgardo, of course when father Edgardo found out—he would be violent and mad.

My mother’s birth name was Mary but she never used it and went by her given Japanese name.  When it came time for me to decide my female name it was a no-brainer.  I always liked the name Mary and since my mom wasn’t using it I took it as my own.

    • #262373

When I attended my first Tri-Ess meeting I was asked to sign in using my fem name. I had never used a fem name before. I thought about it briefly and decided to use Carole. This was the spelling that a favorite woman with whom worked used. It also sounds like my male name so if I responded to it in either male or female mode, no one would be the wiser.

The name Heather is my name if I had been born a girl and Jameson because I’m a huge James Bond fan, it’s my way of getting to be a Bond girl. Ha, fat chance but a girl can dream.

Legally I am Donald. Most would think that it would be logical to use the name Donna. However, for some reason, that didn’t appeal to me. But, I still wanted a name that began with D.

I’ve been a motorsports fan since childhood and I remembered that Mario Andretti’s wife (now passed away) is Dee Ann. I liked that, but decided to change the spelling in order to encourage people to say the entire name, DeeAnn, rather than shortening it to Dee. Mostly that works…

I played a card game called Yugioh when i was younger, there was also a cartoon based on the game with a female character called Alexis. She was one of my major crushes and her name felt like that perfect mix of foreign but not too foreign. In one of the vido games based on the card games, i built a custom female character and rememebring Alexis i decided to change it a bit and call my pink haired character Alexa. Funnily enough I also completetly crushed on my design. And that name has been with me ever since.

Mysti is my online handle. I came up with it to hide while being online. I guess you could say it is my closet name. I comes from Mystique, a character from the X-Men comic books. Mystique is a shapeshifter. She can assume anyone’s identity. She can be male, female, any color, any race. I wanted to use a name that could reflect the double nature of my online identity. But Mystique sounds too much like a stripper or hooker name, so I chose to shorten it.

My full femme name, Genevieve Bergman, is actually my great, great aunt’s name. In doing my ancestry, I found her name and thought it was beautiful. I am going to use it as my alternate name for when I am enfemme. I plan to even get a bank card issued in that name as a “trusted relative who has access” to the account.

I thought about adding a middle name to honor another of my ancestors. One of the first of my family to come to this country was named Valentine. I think Genevieve Valentina Bergman would be a great, classical name.

As others have mentioned good question Danielle.

When I first started dressing I tried out a few different names such as Carmen (for Carmen Electra), Rachel, and Ashleigh. While all these names sounded beautiful and brought to mind different virtues that I strived for when crafting my feminine image, they just didn’t feel right. I met a friend who had a huge impact on my view on life. Her English name was Amy. Not only did I like the sound of her name when using it, I wanted to shape this side of my persona to honor her so, I chose Amy.

I’ve always liked certain female names like Toni, Gina, Judy.
toni came from a girl I hung out when I was in my 20’s.
gina is my wife’s good friend who is kinda hot but bitchy, and kinda too skinny for my likes and bit of a fashion diva too

judy is my online persona when I sign into some porn sites. Lol

so I guess Gina it is for here and when dressed and playing with other gurls.

When I started crossdressing I chose the name of Betsey. It was the name of a girl who I went to school with and had a mad crush on. That name stayed with me for quite awhile but it didn’t fit the way that I wanted it to. It wasn’t me. One day I was dressed en femme and looked at myself in a mirror and the name Janine popped in my head. That was the day that Janine was born and I’ve been Janine ever since. I have Janine on a credit card and a legal state I D card with my picture on it I’m in the process of getting a driver’s license as Janine and hope to get it done soon.

I did almost the same Leslie. My given name was Paul and my middle initial is/was A…so Paula!!!!  It really helped before I got all my id’s changed. When people would ask for id, they’d see Paul A..and assume motor vehicles department just made a clerical error.

Many years ago I saw Blake Edwards “Switch”, a movie about a guy who dies, goes to purgatory, and is reincarnated as a woman.  When he is asked who he is, he says he is a man, and then the name Amanda comes to him.  Always one to like puns, I thought it was great.

When I had to come up with something, I did something similar.  My given name can be shortened to Al, and so I chose, partly as a pun, partly as a humiliation, “Al is son”, a reminder that I wasn’t really a girl. There are several ways to spell Alison.  What I see frequently is Allison.  Alison is also common, but less so.  The spelling I would have liked is Alisson but this spelling is much rarer, and if used is more often a surname spelling.  So I chose the single “l” and single “s” spelling as it is closer to the pun (the “s” would be shared).

My surname “Anderson” came from the street I originally lived on.

I dread coming up with names for anything. Often I feel like I overthink them and they feel a bit dull. I took a different approach with CDH and decided to use the first name that came to me, Samantha. I’ve always liked the name. For a second name, I looked around the room and saw an old Murphy’s law calendar hanging on the wall so Murphy was chosen for my last name. I’ve never gone out in public dressed as Samantha so I’m not sure if I would use the name outside of CDH. I’ve thought then I might use the femme version of my real name, but then again I’ve grown attached to Samantha as a name.

I always liked the name Rachel, and it was nod to the character of Rachel the replicant in Blade Runner (I loved her outfits!)

In my high school, I used to admire a beautiful girl named Jahnavi (in short Jaanu).

She is so beautiful that I could’nt miss seeing her even one day. So, I used to attend to school daily even though I’ve hated it. First I’ve thought I liked her just as a normal boy.

But, as time passed I realized that I love to be like her. That is when I gave myself the femme name derived from her name. I’ve always dreamed to dress like her and style the hair the way she does.

My dream is to go infront of her dressed up exactly like her…

That’s how i got my feminine name ‘Jaanu’

Thanks for making me remind those beautiful days. Love you…

There was an actress in a video I was watching named Timea, and since it was close to my given male name (3 guesses…) it stuck. My femme side is a little slutty (yeah, it was one of ‘those’ videos) so it fits well. Jane is the affectionate, happy, loving part of me; I picked the name because I associate it with those qualities and I’ve always liked two-name handles. West comes from Mae West, the OG bad girl from black and white films.

I used to write sexy crossdresser short stories up until about a year or 2 ago. Never posted/shared anything, but a way to get some pent-up feelings out I’m guessing.

My favorite character to write about was Allison, and named myself after her. I would spend hours coming up with different scenarios for her. She started off innocent enough as most of us, a closeted crossdresser. She eventually came out to some of her female friends getting advice and perfecting her look. Convinced by her friends to start going out in public with them (shopping, eating out, clubbing etc). Allison started meeting boys and having relationships. Over time she transitioned, and ended up getting married. Another character of mine is Jenna that I was very close to picking, but felt it was to close to my actually name. That’s my story!

      – Allison
