I just completed this and knew I had to share it here

[Ally]

The Hidden Half

 

Half of me hid,

from day to day;

because of others,

and what they’d say.

 

Half of me faded,

from lack of care;

if nobody saw it,

why is it there?

 

We all need to be whole,

we all need to be loved;

when I let that half show,

it only got shoved.

 

Shoved down deep,

inside myself;

I bottled it up,

and put it on a shelf.

 

Throughout the years,

that bottle would leak;

each time it did,

I felt so weak.

 

I should be stronger,

so said my mind;

keep my life steady,

lest it unwind.

 

It finally unwound,

and wrapped around my soul;

I’m happy for this,

for I’m becoming whole.

 

The hidden half,

is struggling to be;

I’m terrified of this,

journey to me.

 

I’ve gained some courage,

from a few I know;

I can only hope,

that it continues to grow.

 

The hidden half,

is not so hidden now;

but still lurks in shadow,

but this I vow.

 

One day I will show,

the world the whole me;

and the hidden half,

will finally be free.

Thank you Rilee. I don’t get on here all that often, but when I do it’s always been a comfort. My life and mind have been in a bit of a turmoil lately as I have just recently told two of my family members about my dressing. Luckily for me both were more supportive than I could have hoped for, but it has been a long journey and it’s not over yet; nor will it be until I am comfortable enough and brave enough to let Ally shine in public.

Beautiful Ally, always a pleasure to see you here. Many of us can relate to everything you write about here. We are for many years not just fighting prejudice in the world, but also the internal emotions and desires to be our true identity that we often to frightened to expose. You are extremely brave to take that first step and confide is somebody, than has worked out well which is fantastic and you have some support too. This is one of the reasons this site is so important it offer support an opportunity for those that are struggling to be able to reach out to a community of girls who have experience, and also simply someone to connect with for a chat if your down. Small steps sweetie forward, but remember there is an army here behind you ready to catch you. Lol Amanda xx
