The weekend is always good, Fiona 🙂
It’s just a shame I can’t dress this weekend, so a very pertinent topic!

Yes, ‘Shapeless’ definitely comes to mind – so do ‘Wrong’ and ‘Boring’.

Actually, while typing this, another word that comes to mind is ‘Why?’

If I had choose one word, it would be DIFFERENT.

My wardrobe is a mixture, depending on the task and my mode, I will mix and match.  Whether menswear or womenswear, my clothes are my clothes and were bought to be my clothes. I like all and am comfortable in all.

Just one word? It would have to be Disinterested.
I have them; I wear some, sometimes…but without the motivation I feel for my femme things.

    • #237396
      Anonymous

Clothes are an outward expression of who we are.

Until I embraced my femme, my word would have been “Uncomfortable” or “Boring” or something negative.

Now I know my expression can switch g whichever way it jolly well chooses, I look differently at male clothing.

I have some expensive tailored suits in similar fabrics and colours to women’s, just with a sharp male cut.

I love seeing other people’s reactions, especially when I’m giving technical advice in my specialist field.

I feel like Laura is always there, possibly due to the comfortable panties I wear underneath – I haven’t worn male underwear for over a year, and I’m never going back.

Male underwear is uncomfortable. One word!

Male suits can be sharp, as in providing a sharp focus on you as a man of knowledge and power. Knowledge IS power.

I haven’t cracked casual clothes yet – jeans and t shirts which are slowly being replaced by female equivalents.

Same look, even similar cuts, but softer materials and little details that remind you of the femmeness.

I guess “Predictable” is a good word for male clothing.

I find so many lovely and unusual femme clothes that I’m only now beginning to fully realise how short-changed men are when it comes to what we can wear.

      Love Laura

      Great Question Fiona !

      I’m going with Uninspired.

I went and saw a play last night with my wife at a community theater. (Ghost the musical. What an amazing performance !). I wore some of my favorite male clothes. Dark Grey PPD jeans (thrift find <$15.00) and a magenta and purple shirt. (I bought about a dozen bright and patterned men’s shirts at Macy’s during their New Year’s Day sale. I was suffering from “too much flannel-itis”) I was wearing black socks that have a small light blue paisley design on them knowing they wouldn’t be seen anyways. All black Adidas sneakers that look like shoes unless you really look at them. All four of those items are light years from what I would have worn a few years ago. They are the best that I can do in drab mode without wearing woman’s fashions. Still, compared to women’s fashions, they aren’t much. At least not to me.

      Clothes.

Men’s clothing, for me is simply clothing, it serves a very important purpose, for me it keeps me warm and dry, it allows me to do my work safely and comfortably. Much of my work is in wilderness locations where a pretty dress and heels would be a bit of a hindrance. Working in these environments males and females wear essentially the same gear although the undergarments may be different, but sometimes perhaps not 😉 when working in these conditions I do still have the need to CD, so I usually save it for bed time. I am senior enough that I usually have a single room or in remote locations I’ll pitch a tent. I actually like the winter because I can get away with more under bulky winter clothing.

Sorry, that ended up being a long one word answer.

      Restrictive.

      Breaking the one word rule…!

Restrictive in other ways for sure, but I’m thinking about restriction of choices. Women get such a huge range of options for what to wear. Men get so few!

I agree with that. But male clothes do have practical aspects. Like I’m not going to climb a ladder and go up on the roof in pantyhose, stilettos and very short dress to clean out gutters.

      • #238971

      Mine.

Cuz the whole time you’re wearing drab out of neccessity you’re dreaming about the cute or beautiful things you’d rather have against your skin.

Going to go with pragmatic.  Not as negative a word as many I’ve been seeing here, but it’s what I appreciate about drab: I don’t have to worry about turning a heel or running a stocking when I’m dressed as a guy, and so I don’t have to limit my activities.

Femme clothes, for the record, I’d go with elegant.

      I’ve got another one! Safe!

This kinda goes both ways, but as I was walking through my daughter’s closet recently I saw a big pile of clothes we haven’t yet donated that was ENTIRELY awful things my mother had bought. Ugly, uncomfortable, just embarrassing things we would never put her in.
It made me glad I was born with male boys because the things we say about men’s clothes at least allowed my wardrobe to be inoffensive! If I were a girl with that mother I would have gone full tomboy as soon as possible!

      Simple

im trying to not apply gender to my clothing. GGs wear “male” clothing all the time, yet it’s bought in the women’s section. My ex and I nearly dressed the same 80% of the time. She was a bit of a tom-boy, though when she put on her wedges and romper I’d go nuts.

anyway, I do think femme clothing is far more creative and the styles are unmatched. As a minimalist though, I do appreciate a simple Levi + v-neck look of my “male” clothing.

I know it says one word, but many come to mind. I have always found men’s cloths to be mostly uninspired. Oh I know there are a few that step up for the most part Men’s cloths are just men’s cloths.

But woman’s cloths!! My God the color’s, styles, accessories, shoes. The style choices are endless really.

      Love Women’s Cloths.

My wife found a few dresses hanging in my closet. She was most upset because she is so opposed. She said “There are woman’s cloths in your closet!” I told her calmly that “Those are not women’s cloths, they are MY cloths.”

      Hugs
