I have found using emojis in a post to cause an error.
I suggest to use plain text for now and you should be fine for now.

Grrrr!!  Tried for an hour to respond to Donna earlier and gave up. When I saw this I realized it is my fault…. Because I give everyone a little Merlot cheer when I sign off the internet tea totalers wrote a virus to prevent my wine emoji and it mutated and attacked all emojis. So sorry ladies. When this passes, along with covid, I shall hoist a glass (or 2 or 3) in honor of all the “unsigned” posts here.

🤪  Emoji’s seem to be working at the moment whether created from the keyboard or posted in from another app.  Can one of those who have been having this issue please try again.  If it fails again please describe the emoji used and its source.  I haved turned on reply notifications to this thread.  Thank you for your assistance.

The emojis I use are standard issue Android emojis from the keyboard layout.

I cannot add them without getting the “critical” message, unless I post some text, then edit the post.

Are you copy/pasting or using KB shortcuts?

I am clicking the emojis keyboard  extension and choosing directly from there – so I wouldn’t call it a shortcut, which I view as a combination of letter keys.

Don’t want to obfuscate the issue however – if you see that as a shortcut I won’t argue!

LOL.  No argument.  I’m testing from a Mac using Chrome and have not tried an extension. Please describe your environment.

Works using the Samsung keyboard too.  I don’t have any others that aren’t voice controls.  My phone has Chrome version 96.0.4664.45.  The Samsung keyboard is version 5.1.30.0.  Please check yours and at this point I can only suggest trying another KB on your end to further isolate what may be the cause.

It seems to be fairly widespread – maybe it’s something that’s been cached.

Are you accessing the web servers direct on the LAN, or via the external internet connection?

I see an increased number of edited posts and a distinct decrease in the general use of emojis in recent posts.

A light poll I ran in another thread showed affected users with Android, Windows and iPhones – exact same issue – so I think the issue is still affecting people, they’re just using the workaround.

I’m actually using Samsung Internet v.16.0.2.19.

I’ll try purging my cache… oh no! I used the “P” word…
