      Would it be so terrible
If I sometimes wore a dress?
Would it make you hate me?
Would it make you love me less?

      Would it be so awful
If I sometimes wore a skirt?
      Would you really loathe it?
      Would it really hurt?

      Would it be so horrible
If I sometimes wore a gown?
Would you zip it up for me?
Or would you put me down?

      Would it be so nasty
If I sometimes looked like she?
      It would cost you nothing
And mean so much to me.

      Would it be so disgusting
If I sometimes wore high heels?
      It may look really weird
But I love the way it feels

Would you help me lace my corset?
Would you check my stocking seams?
Or would you turn your back on me
Leave me dressing in my dreams?

      Can you understand that
I sometimes need to wear a bra
But I don’t want to be a woman
I don’t want to go that far.

Would you help me with my makeup?
Would you buy me that nice skirt?
Or would you make me feel ashamed?
      Make me feel like dirt?

      Can’t you understand that
      Nothing changes with the clothes?
      I’m not a different person
      Regardless of the pose

      I don’t want the operation
      I don’t want implant breasts
      I don’t want hormone treatment
I just want to wear a dress

I’m still the man you married
      I’m still the same inside
      Even though the groom would
      Sometimes rather be the bride

Connie , such a great poem. So many of us have these feelings from time to time. This makes me so sad that for many of us if our SO would read this and try to understand even a little that everyone would be happier.

Connie – wonderful poem. It really resonates with me. I’m also married with a big secret. Below is a poem I posted recently on the CDH Poems of our Life Group. Hope you like it:

      Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
who’s the fairest of them all?
While I feel that I stand tall,
I’m not the one to make the call.

      With necklace, bracelet and rings,
      I’m now dressed with womanly things;
with skirts, blouses and wavy hair,
my heart jumps as I wonder and stare.

The other me, the other face,
      embracing the colours and the lace;
she can no longer be concealed,
the feminine me must be revealed.

Mirror, mirror, what do you see?
It sees the better side of me.

      Zsazsa 🙂

      Connie,

That was very well thought out and poignantly written. I’m sure most of us can relate to your poem to some degree. Thank you for sharing your talent.

      Hugs, Jill
