      Greetings from Down Under ladies.

Over my recent CD years I have often mused about the differences in lifestyle and mannerisms between “male me” and “Ms Catherine Louise Ryan”.

Here’s a few and lets see  if we cant add a few more.

      MM is Male me

      CR is Caty Ryan.

MM does not care that much how his clothes are kept on wardrobe hangers or in chests of drawers. “Aim and shoot”

CR, After washing her “intimates” they are carefully folded and put away into drawers with scented liners. Same with nightwear on to hangers. All outerwear is on hangers as well.

She loves the resultant slight aroma as she dons her bra each night before bed. ( I do the reverse of real girls!)

MM cares not for and does not wear rough fabric “common or garden” male underwear YUK!

CR is a 24/7 lingerie freak… Especially in warmer months when the silk nightwear can be worn.

MM is not fussed about what his male “undies” used to cost.

CR will wear only the best.

MM if and when the situation occurs, can swear and cuss like the best of them.

CR would rarely say more than “oh bother it”.

MM Until recently had hair on chest, legs and arms.

CR just loves being (almost) hairless  all over

MM Drives like a typical male very laid back, mostly just one hand on the wheel and at times can be a little bit aggressive in traffic. Drives/has driven practical “man cars”. Powerful and practical station wagons etc

CR is the demure woman, two hands at “10 to 2” on the wheel and is a very careful driver. (If only ‘cos who wants to have a “prang” (Oz slang for accident)/ get pulled over by the cops/ when dressed?. She would own and drive a small zippy sedan/ sports car/SUV.Her lovely painted fingernails would be right in her eyeline to the road.

MM Was never much good at sport.

CR Thinks that maybe she could have been a good swimmer or tennis/squash player.

MM loves the idea of a typical male getting ready for his day and only taking 15 mins tops.Never uses aftershave or such like

CR loves taking the two hours plus when “Caty Time” arrives”. Especially the aroma of scented body powder and perfume.

MM is as bald as they come and does not wear any jewellery

CR loves the hair from her wig tickling the back of her neck and enjoys the “finishing touch” appropriate jewellery can provide to an outfit.

MM Was a keen recreational fisherman for nearly 40 years. Had his own boat/s and did not mind the smell of bait and cleaning fish. Wore the oldest “fishing rags” he could find. Loved seven hours out on the water, catching fish was a bonus

CR is not sure she could cope with all the “icky smelly bits”, like the bait and fish cleaning and would rather spend seven hours shopping and coffee with the girls, than out on some rocky old bay with nothing to do but hold a fishing rod and hope. She also would not “lower her dress standards” to the level suitable for said activity.

      PHOTOS

MM rarely has his “Ugly mug” in any photos,

CR has heaps… especially here on CDH!!

      FORMAL WEAR.

Having been retired for almost 20 years, MM hates the idea of a suit collar and tie. Neat “cas” thanks very much. Rarely out of jeans/shorts, depending on the weather

CR Loves the idea of getting all glammed up in formal ball dresses and “mother of the bride outfits”. (Here’s where she’s showing her age…)

      CAREERS.

MM was in the one “industrial” job for nearly forty years with marketing a focus.

CR would probably have done the same but more likely wearing the black “power suit” in a CBD office building.

      COMMON THINGS

If she was female, CR would enjoy loving and being loved by a nice man as MM has the good fortune to be with a loving female partner. She would have loved to have had children , just as MM has loved being a Dad

WRITING “Both of us” enjoy writing. (eg lost count of my CDH posts, replies and articles) MM has written many articles and other “written communications” and been “published” in a wide variety of “mediums”

GOOD WINE, GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS

      Enough said..

Anybody care to add their own comparisons to the above list….

      Happy dressing

      “MM/CR”

Who has left the house more without keys? MM or CR?

Wow Caty. What a fantastic and insightful post.

I can agree with everything – including the fishing and fast cars.

I must admit Im a bit lazy putting my intimates away properly but everything else is spot on.  I would hate to have a prang dressed, so alway 10 and 2 for me in Ellie mode with fingernails on display.

I really enjoyed this post and read it a couple of times as it was so good.

BTW I also wear a bed bra (as my wife calls it) and Bald as a coot too….

In some respects the ‘Rod in the hand’ is a bit of an annoyance in girl mode…..

With me I haven’t changed an awful lot although there are differences, of course there are. Food shopping is still a chore, ask many women. However in clothes shopping it is different. MM was a quick dash in and get what I need there was little want. I tended to be neat anyway with everything in order and hung in the wardrobe, which was enough clothes for immediate eventualities.  In FM it is sooo different, clothes shopping is a term used by women as a social thing for time out to chat, browse and try on, buying is only an option. Food shopping can be brightened by wandering off into the clothes section just to check if something new has come in since the last visit or to see if that item you saw last week is on the sale rail. Buying clothes is based on need for underwear and disposables. With outerwear and shoes it’s a balance against need and want. Do I need that dress – ‘No’, do I want it ‘Yes’ So one right means it should be bought hence a full wardrobe of clothes, some of which may not have been worn but are classed as essential as you never know. Fashion has become very important now.

I have always washed and ironed but take greater care with the wash cycles and iron temperatures now. I have more photos now and always pick the best ones to save, in MM it mattered not. In FM I am very conscious of my looks and mirror checks are mandatory. I take care of my nails, am particular what scents I use and sit to pee.

I do tend to drive with more awareness so not to get tickets but these days women drive all sorts of vehicles so what I have is fine. I do find that in FM I get given precedence at junctions.

      These are my observations.

Hi Caty I can agree on very nearly all of what you have said especially putting away my drab man clothes, the only time they see an iron and are pressed are when i wear them, the one thing I’m not big on is fishing 🎣 i tried it once but I’m to restless to sit there for hours waiting for a nibble ,lol X

I do find I’m folding my men’s clothing better than I ever have.

Now that Lauren is legally a female and lives as herself full time, there are very few traces of MM left.
The only real evidence may be the mess of paperwork all over her computer desk and the collection of leftovers that accumulates in the back of her fridge, LOL!

      Big hugs girls,

      Caty,

Two things from you post I’d like to comment on:

      1. Gowns, formal dresses – I have been shopping recently for a formal dress to wear to the Keystone Conference Gala next March and I absolutely love how they look on me and how I feel when wearing them. Looking in the mirror when I’m wearing a formal dress, with my makeup done and wearing as much jewelry as possible is a truly incredible feeling. For me, it is the pinnacle of dressing as a woman.

      2. Driving – When Fiona drives, she still drives as a male. There have been a few times when dealing with some idiot driver that they have looked over and seemed surprised that a woman was behind the wheel.

Thanks to everyone for their lovely responses and thanks.

I’ve since thought of a few more comparisons.

      MUSIC

MM is an old rocker from way back. Loves 60’s and 70’s stuff especially guitar instrumentals. EG Ventures/Shadows.

CR could have been a “Rock chick”, bobby socks and poodle skirts etc. But she’d like to think she may have ventured into the classics/ symphony side… Great excuse to get dolled up in her finest semi formal dresses and “glide into the venue” on the arm of her escort.

      VOICE

MM got his start being a rabid, full throated supporter of his Aussie Rules football team..

CR When she tries a femme voice it just comes out as a “squeak”. So  I hardly ever talk to anyone when “going public”.

(But in “these Covid days”, when Caty emerges in this situation, mask, sunglasses and wig, plus looking femme “from the neck down” means we can go about our business without being “clocked”)

      CAREERS.

I’m changing CR to CEO of an upscale lingerie manufacturer. EG Simone Perele for bras and panties,  Ginia for silk  sleepwear. Naturally, when a new collection is released,  she would have to try it all on to make sure she approved!!

      DANCING

MM has two left feet, been a hopeless dancer all my life.

CR..Well……, put her in 4′ heels, make her go backwards,…. probably make it worse

      Keep ’em coming.

      Music

MM: Rock, then country, then bluegrass (I know… quite the progression!). Hated disco. Clumsy dancer (ask me how I know).

Gwyn: Pop (especially Bobby Sherman!), loved disco (if only to dance!), country (even to the point of the new hickhop…. again, for dancing!)

      Employment

MM: machinist. Love working with my hands.

Gwyn: secretary. Love working with my hands (make of that what you will! A girl has to do something to get ahead!)

When dressed I wear skirt (or dress) and heels, a little makeup and so on, I do care for what I wear.
MM doesn’t care much as to what covers the body.

Now beyond that part it’s not much differance, I do shop female clothes and stuff even in male mode, I don’t change taste of music or change my language, all that is more or less always female.
When I came out to my parents & siblings they said they always seen my female side and lack of masculine stuff that the biggest surprise was that I didn’t come out earlier.

      /kelly
