Even when hope is weak
and almost insurmountable obstacles rise
there will always be a space where
the poet’s voice will thunder.

There’s a National Poetry Day? (as I write this on Jan 31st…) I used to write poetry all the time, but I haven’t for many years now. I find it tough to get inspired. So many fears of secrets being found out, the world being a crappy place and getting worse. Ah well, maybe next year.
I am still trying to figure out how to write a blog, anonymously.- This reply was modified 2 years ago by Kristen Smithly.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I’m so grateful
For all of you
Hugs and Love,

Shoot, did I somehow miss this again?! Oh well, snap your fingers as I embark on a mystical journey, a journey into the black Kerouac tarmac of ad-hoc lyrical empirical truth…
… by which I mean make @%#! up.
I give you: LBD… sure, that works…
Click clack go the black
Heels feeling reeling from the bric-a-brac
Trepidation from the calibration of sensation
Meditation medication from the black holes of black hose
Electrifying, sighing up my legs as Animus is dying
Trying to pause my journey up the thighs and empathize
My belly’s yearning to address the simple bliss
Of curvy body slithering in a slinky dress
Black again like the color of the night, the slight right
And the wronger it is the more it feels right
Who’s this sexy dame igniting flame, denying blame for all the same
Sensations creeping up the id, the ego slips beneath the cliffs
For now she stands alone apart, where once a man-olith stood stark
Now painted lips and sugared heart, black lashes flutter like the start
Of chrysalis erupting stark, as hair like wings emerges dark
The twilight hopes, the heart embarks
As jewels like embers turn to sparks
Where man-olith stood the she-nix rises,
Stage resets and life revises.- November 13, 2022 at 10:54 am #691640
This is quite good Astrid. To me it’s more like well written lyrics for hip-hop. Trans hip-hop? Have you thought about songwriting?
- November 13, 2022 at 6:46 pm #691742
I actually main songwriter amongst my artistic talents, though generally more in the rock/folk than hip-hop genre. Here though you see my bad attempt at beat poetry… though there’s a finer line than one might think between that and freestyle rap now that I ponder it…

….and the dots are now connected…..
Maybe you’d want to fine tune, but this is far better than a “bad attempt”.
Don’t sell yourself short!

By the time you know
that the chrysalis evolved
calm will surround you.
