As I type this I am fully dressed while working from home. In previous forum posts and replies I mentioned how I have occasionally painted my short fingernails during the work day and even accidentally exposed them on a video conference while in drab-mode though I recovered and came up with a good excuse. Today I went a step further. This past weekend I bought medium length press-on nails, painted them this morning and I am wearing them now while I work. It is quite the learning experience how to function with daily activities especially dressing, using the bathroom and typing. But, It is VERY exhilarating and fun seeing them in all their glory while I go about my day.
This being my maiden voyage with fake nails I decided to forgo the glue and just use double-sided tape to secure them. This is just in case I need to remove them quickly for a meeting or if my college aged children scurry downstairs. Funny thing though. The upside of simple taped-on nails is that they go on and come off easily. Downside is that they come off easily. I was working for an hour when I realized that one of my nails was missing. Oh my! What if I do not find it and my wife (who knows but DADT) or one of my children (who don’t know) finds it later! That would be impossible to explain away since my wife is very low-maintenance fashion and would never consider using them or painting her nails for that matter. After 15 minutes tearing my desk apart I found it lodged in the waistband of my skirt. Phew, crisis averted. Now I will need to check/secure my nails frequently to be sure I notice them as soon as I can in case one does become separated from the other nine and I walk upstairs with a nail stuck in my hair.
