Hello everyone , hope all is doing well. I am over 50 and have been dressing in women clothes most of my life . Sneaking and hiding my mothers and sisters cloths when I was younger . My sister was older and we would play dress up when I was small . I have always enjoyed the way the clothes fill against my body . I have always kept it to myself. My wife now knows I did but I don’t know if she still thinks I do . She is very against it . I have kids and grandkids and they will never know . I have many clothes and shoes and wigs . But never been able to do the makeup. You all look so nice . I wish I was able to do the makeup. I have dressed and been out in my car but that is as far as I have went . I wish I had someone to help me finish my look and to spend time with just being one of the girls . That’s enough for now .

Hi Rachel, and welcome to a wonderful place to share and learn. It is a challenge sometimes to have the desire to explore our feminine nature and not have it conflict with our family obligations. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution. However, as I get older I find I am less concerned about what others think and more concerned about having the opportunity to do what I feel I must do. I hope things go well for you and I look forward to hearing more. Hugs, Paulette

Hi Rachel
Doing your own make up can be a bit of a challenge at first. I felt like I had ten thumbs for fingers on my first attempts. Even if you think it is impossible and you will never get it, you will. It just takes practice and figuring out what products and colors you like best.

Dearest Barbie
Read your message and really appreciated your input!
I am absolutely useless with Make-Up and my Brother keeps pestering me to get a tutorial and learn to become Anna M fully!
Ok,nobody else will see me like that YET but it’s not the point!
To feel like the Woman you’re supposed to be it’s no good doing half the job!!!!
At present i shockingly look like a Bloke in a dress and that’s all!
Lots of Love

Hi Anna Marie
What exactly are you doing when you attempt make up? You don’t need to get overly fancy to start. Your brother needs to learn to back off and allow you to grow at your own pace. Learning to do make up can be both a great deal of fun and at times a source of great frustration.
You don’t need really expensive make up to begin. One of the first things I was taught about make up came from a pro make up artist. He said, “Cover Girl does not cover boy”. Meaning the liquid foundation most women use won’t cover beard shadow.
There are several ways to go about using a foundation that will cover the shadow quite well. Some girls use Dermablend which is a foundation used to cover burns and port wine stains. It is thick and hard to work with. Others use Max Factor pan stick and it does a decent job at a decent price.
My make up artist used Mehron cream blend stick foundation and then just setting powder. Once you have a decent foundation you can begin to try eye liner, eye shadow and mascara. Eye brows are difficult for many girls.
I think it is always a good idea to draw attention away from the brows by wearing a wig with bangs. An extreme solution is to simply shave them off and draw them in with a pencil. That is an old drag queen trick. It works wonders.
I used to buy whatever eye shadows looked fun and colorful or even with glitter in then. For your lips you just need a few lip pencils to line your lips. You can use a pencil to line above your upper lip line to create the illusion of plump lips. You might want to line your lips in a dark red and wear a hot pink lipstick along with lip gloss.
The harshest critic of your make up skills that you will ever meet is the girl looking back from the mirror. I don’t think there is a single CD on earth who looks in the mirror who doesn’t see everything they perceive as masculine about their face and body.
