I stumbled onto an article about Jane Austen and her story Pride & Prejudice and I was reminded of the character Mr. Darcy. Hmmm seems like I’ve seen that name before just had forgotten it had been associated with a male character. So curious I googled the name Darcy and came to realize that it is a unisex name but more predominantly used with males. While the Darcie spelling is the more feminine spelling.

I have been using Darcy for about two years now so I don’t guess it is worth converting it to the more feminine spelling.

      Thoughts?

There’s nothing wrong with that spelling. There are girls with the name Darcy, Darcie, and Darci. And I doubt there are many men with that name these days apart from the occasional upper class twit. Anyway, a unisex name would seem to be very appropriate for a CD!

I was in college in the early ‘70s and knew a girl there who was named Darcy with that spelling and she was the only one I’ve ever known.

I think I f you would be happy with that spelling you should change it, if not just  leave it. Either way you are a  lovely woman here!

There is also a spelling of Darcey,  made famous by…..

Marnie Mercedes Darcey Pemberton Crittle, more well known as Darcey Bussell.

Go for it – express yourself! Go femme with your name.

Regardless of the spelling, Darcy sounds more feminine than masculine. Lots of names have switched genders over time. Lynne and Lindsey are two I thought of right off.

Of course, Mr. Darcy doesn’t count as a male name as it’s his surname. Grigsby reminds me of an Elton John song, or is it Grimsby?

Enjoy Darcy! It’s your name after all.

Darcy is just fine. Keep it.

It is a Gallic name and its meaning is ‘Dark’. It is thought of as a male name but is quite common for women. You could also spell it as D’arcy or Darcey, which appears more common for females to use.

Or, as it is easier, leave as is.

In Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Darcy is the character’s surname.  His full name is Fitzwilliam Darcy.

I honestly never would have guessed that name, in any spelling, used to be a male name.. But, it is completely your choice to change it if it bothers you.
