      Hello ladies,

I have always worn four-strap garter belts to this point and have been thinking about purchasing a six-strap garter belt that I saw online. That brought a question to my mind. What do all of you prefer? Standard four-strap garters, six-strap garters, even more?

For those that have worn garter belts with more than the just four straps, do they help keep the stockings in place better? Do they keep the stockings from twisting (especially stockings with back seams)? Do you just feel more feminine in them?

I’m curious to hear your experiences.

      Hugs,

      Emily

      HI

I love my 6 strap, keeps the stockings up and in place brilliantly for hours. xxx

Four strap belts don’t do a good job of keeping stockings straight and evenly taut. And if one fails you’re likely to have a wardrobe malfunction. All they’re good for is the bedroom. Most hosiery experts agree that six straps is a requirement and more is better. Most of my belts are eight straps and are made in the UK. The straps are a bit wider than what’s typically seen on four strap belts, and they have metal tabs. Those two things are important for all-day wear. The straps are strong enough to hold up your stockings and the tabs won’t break. My eight strap belts are very sexy and I don’t need to worry about my stockings twisting or sliding down. They’re a real treat to wear when I’m feeling really girly.

      Hi Emily,

I’m a big fan of thigh high stockings, but they do have a tendency to not stay up particularly if you do any amount of walking.

I’m not sure whether I’m 4 or 6 girl. Sofsy has what appears to be  a very classy garter belt on Amazon. It has six straps. I’m thinking of giving it a shot.

Not matter what, if there is bedroom activity a garter belt is a necessity.

Definitely agree with you Jessica that if there is bedroom activity, a garter belt is a necessity!

Hi Jessica – finding decent 6+ strap garter belts in the US isn’t an easy task. That’s why I sourced most of mine from the UK. The one you found on Amazon looks like a good option. I’d be interested in your opinion if you buy it.

Definitely a six or eight straps “gel” this end and yes the best brands I have found, (What Katie Did, etc etc), are from the UK.

They have nice wide waist straps too.. Helps with the “tummy bulge”

I have only a few garter belts, and all but one have 4 straps, so in my limited experience, the 6 strap ones hold the stockings in place better, and if one lets go you still have the other 2.

I’ve always worn 4 strap garter belts.  They have worked fine for me.  I’ve heard that more straps hold the stockings better.  That makes sense.  I’d like to try 6 or 8 strap garter belts one day.

      Jessica,
I’m a big fan of thigh-highs, also; but I’ve learned one thing about the stay-ups: They don’t! Bought a 4-strap garter belt from Amazon, but I need something better and more comfortable. Looking around.

I’ve got my eye on another  Rago one (previous one was lost in a purge a few years ago ☹️) which is the vintage girdle style with 6 straps and a boned shaping effect.

Also I’ve been reading about this manufacturer in the UK, apparently they are also CD/trans friendly

      Me again,

The other UK brand I could not remember was “Kiss Me Deadly”

Which in this day and age of “The Bug”, if I was the owner of that company I’d be thinking of changing the name..

Sorry bout that… But in these scary times, we need a chuckle when we can.

In my 20’s and up to my mid 30’s, I only wore 4 strap garter belts as they were both more available and more affordable.  Not knowing better, I just took the adjustments that were needed as normal when wearing them.  My sister bought me a very sexy 6 strap garter for my birthday when I turned 35.  I fell in love with the wider straps and was pleased that they required little to no adjustment in the ladies room when I went out wearing it.

I still own a few 4 strap ones and even an 8 strap open bottom girdle/garter, but the majority of my garters are 6 strap.  And I am a firm believer in a garter belt as THE one necessity if some bedroom fun is going to take place.  The look on my lover’s faces when they unwrap me is priceless, and the effect on their desire definitely increases.

Seraphina, I just got my first Rago bra this weekend and have now just fallen in love with how it fits.  I took a gamble ordering it online, but I will definitely be buying more of their products in the future.  I got it through ‘Her Room’.  It is a  Rago Lacette longline model 2202 if anyone would like to check it out.  I love their selection of garter belts also and will be trying them soon.

If you buy a good quality 4 strap belt they work fine. Those flimsy ones that are little more than a few slivers of lace are meant for the bedroom, but proper ones work well.

Garter belts help keep you cool, and I love the feel of them moving under my skirt.

Love Rago, I have two 6 strap Rago Garter Belts and two Rago 721 waist trainer with 4 straps.

with  metal garter straps both style hold my stockings in place.  Love the 721 as this style helps when wearing dresses. When I wear thigh highs I always use Jobst body adhesives, thigh highs say in place no problem even with bedroom play.

I’ve only got one garter belt and it has four straps. Its white and because I hardly ever wear it its like brand new. The last time I remember wearing a garter belt was at a casino on New Year’s Eve while wearing a gown. That was like two years ago. I prefer to wear thigh high stockings and occasionally pantyhose

    • #328807

I love my thigh high stockings and like some of the others here find I sometimes have to use a garter belt to keep these up…but I also have many pairs of lovely nylon stockings . I’m an older girl and grew up with women and girls wearing garter belts and I do just find them a wonderful feminine addition when I am dressing. Doing up our garters is just one of those lovely pleasures of being a woman and I find doing so so very sensual and a garter belt and nylons just looks so very feminine.

      Update:

I contacted ’Pip and Pantalaimon’ asking about custom sizing (eg for CD guys) and received this reply:

‘Yep we certainly do! If you want to order something off the website, just let us know your measurements so that we can make the best fit for you.
There’s no extra charge for this as we mostly make to order anyway’
Great news for vintage style lingerie fans (my online basket is already overflowing!)

I have found that 6 garters works well  to minimize stocking sag.  The bad part is trying to fasten that back garter [Number 3 on each side].  When I was young I could easily reach around and do it, but now that I am an old lady [83] it is hard, but I still try.  Sometimes I just switch to a 4 strap model and wear a dress long enough to mask the inevitable sagging nylons.    Garter stockings feel so good.  I hate pantyhose.  Good luck.

I didn’t vote. I actually only have one garter and I haven’t worn it yet. It came as part of a three piece set. The panties are in the panty drawer with the many others. The bralette (why does spell check always underline bralette?) I have worn quite a few times, even under drab clothes while out and about. The garter has 4 straps but alas, I don’t actually have a set of stockings to wear with it.  My wardrobe stash is quite small so any decision to make a purchase needs to be an informed one and after reading the responses to this post, I am putting a 6 strap garter on the wish list. Thanks everyone !

      Hugs

      Autumn

Oh, Autumn, you seriously need to buy a pair of stockings to go with your garter belt. I think you will really enjoy how they look and feel when wearing them! 🙂

        Hugs,

<p style=”text-align: center;”>I have only ever worn garter belts with 4 straps and they make me feel so feminine and sexy, i must try and get some with 6 straps and see what the difference is, at the moment i wear holdups with a lacey top, they are not as noticeable when worn under drab trousers, the straps on the garter belt make more of a bump so are more noticeable xxxxx</p>

Seraphina, I checked out their website (pip, & co) and Oh My, the items are, can I say, delectable! Don’t know what the shipping cost might be from the UK to Canada. Might have to find out!
