Hi Girls I had to get some dress pants for my granddaughters graduation coming in ten days.

I haven’t bought many drab cloths in a couple years. LOL

So Today I am in Kohls  in the mens dept and the whole time I keep looking over in the ladies lingerie  dept at all the pretty Bras and panties.

Very hard to focus just didn’t want to be in the mens dept at all.

Then I go in the dressing room.

The only ones open are in the juniors dept and they are unisex for now.

I go in and some ladies/girls have left the cutest cloths in there and wouldn’t you know it their my size.

So I at least got to try on some cute capris and a cute top.

    I just couldn’t help myself.

I just wanna shop for  girl cloths.

any body else feel this distracted shopping in drab mode?

    Huggs Patty

I detest shopping for men’s clothes. Lucky styles don’t change much because they last for decades with tiny changes in standard men’s styles.
Funny thing though this morning I got dressed in drab to visit our kids in another city a couple hours away. Before we left I put on an expensive shirt we got in NYC about 10 years ago.
She puts her hand on my back fully touching and feeling the material… then she said, “wow, you look good, you could almost pass” Cracked us both up to tears.

One time probably 15 years ago we were in sears or the Bay or wherever and I saw this amazing nightie, I was fawning over it and said I wanted it. She said no, if you want it you have to try it on first. I couldn’t believe she was serious but she was.. (she was testing me…)
Lucky for me there was no one around so we went into a dressing room without assistance, tried it on and it was perfect. Then she bought it for me.
      Loved that moment.

I never like looking in the men’s dept I feel vary uncomfortable. I am totally at ease in the woman’s dept. I  am more than comfortable shopping in the women dept, and since I am always in drab it makes it more exciting for me.

I must say I haven’t felt quite that bad, as I actually like shopping for men’s clothes too! It’s just that there are so many more choices with women’s, and I’m drawn to them so much. However there have been times when I’ve gone and bought things for Amy, then carried them into a men’s wear store and bought more clothes, only for my male side.

Sometimes I try clothes on at the store, when possible, and the manager at a local store knows me very well I shop there in drab and en femme and has no problem letting me use a fitting room even if I’m in drab. Likewise at another store.

Hi Amy Im glad you like doing both.

I must say I am in a internal struggle it seems between my male and female side.

I love being female but the family and job and friend pressures stifle my female side a lot and sometimes it makes me feel like I am doing the wrong thing.

But you girls make me feel so good about my female side.

        Thank you all

Patty I was with my wifey and daughter a while back and they wanted to stop and shop for a while. Although my wifey knows all about me we try to not make it something our children have to “deal” with. After a short period of time I excused myself and went to wait in the car. Latter that night my wifey asked why I left and I said I was just to interested in looking for myself and felt it was better to not raise any questions from our daughter. She appreciated this and said she understood. Yep, man clothes shopping stinks and is a waste of time and money!

        HI Carolyne,

Its good to hear from you

I know what you mean my 25 year old daughter doesn’t know about me but when her and her mom or sister start talking about girl stuff I catch my self wanting to jump into the conversation .

or if my daughter and my wife are shopping I have to distance myself as dad knows too much stuff about girl stuff.LOL

I can totally relate you did the right thing.

Yes, today as a matter of fact; I was at Dillard’s, exchanging a new dress, and scanning the latest arrivals. Saw one I really wanted to try on – but I was in drab, so couldn’t go into the ladies’ fitting room. Note to self: Don’t shop in drab any more.

      Hugs,
      Bettylou

I always love hearing from you .

I know what you mean I feel like a kid in a candy store when Im in the woman’s dept.

definitely not good to be in the ladies dept in drab.

So much more fun in girl mode

        Thank you

Ain’t it the truth, Patty; with pretty dresses in all the stores, now, it’s hard to choose, and want one of everything, it seems. I have no budget restrictions, so an overstuffed closet is the only thing keeping me from going overboard. Shopping is SO much fun!

To your point then Bettylou….I always shop in drab. With things opening up a bit more and dressing rooms becoming available, I’d like to try-it-before-I-buy-it. But I’ve never had the opportunity to try on my prettiest purchases in store. So what’s the consensus girls? If shopping in drab, try on clothes in women’s dressing room or men’s dressing room? I guess this is a variation on the ladies room/men’s room question. I don’t think I’d hesitate to take my try-ons to the women’s dressing room. Wrong?

Clara, waiting at the dressing room door…..

I think it depends on timing and the location, Clara. The dressing rooms at Dillard’s and Macy’s seem to me like no-man’s land. But I have used the ones at Old Navy and JC Penney – unless there is a line of ladies waiting to get in. I’m not bold enough to join that line while in drab.

HI Clara I shop in drab some.

I just put the item in my basket pick up a guy item and go in the mens dressing room.

usually no problem unless there are people checking what items you have to try on.

          sometimes I dont care though.

          LOL

I recognize i may get some flack for this, but I will anyways. Wil’s clothes still far outnumber Bridgette’s thus far, but his clothes still have lots of colors, nice fabrics, but admittedly little significant variety. I’m an engineer, and wear lots of polos and button down shirts, and I’ve got tons of different colors, many bright patterns and several pretty paisley patterns. Not too mention about 80-90 neckties in all colors. Wil likes to look nice too, when he goes to work. A nice variety of dress shoes too, for going out, but sadly it’s safety boots at wheel. I will agree that pants/slacks have little variety of color, fabric, style, or anything else. Khaki, blue, olive, black, and grey… yep, that’s about it.

I have gotten rid of nearly all my boy jeans though… and a pair of girl jeans with one of those paisley shirts is a decent outfit.

I totally agree with you. I have dress shirts in a variety of colors including lavender and as close to pink as I can find for my drab work outfit. Slacks do not have too much variety so I make up for that with my panties that I wear all the time.

        Hi Jillian

I flip out when I’m in a clothing store.  I want to touch all the pretty clothes!  But walking past the menswear dept I don’t even glance.  I have zero interest in male clothing.

Hi Diana I totally get it.

Me in the mens  department reminds me of my childhood .

All I wanted to do and think about

Was being in the toy dept.

Awww do I have to go to the mens dept?☹️

I can’t remember the last time I bought any men’s clothes. I look at Kohl’s and can’t find anything I like. But on the other side of the store. That’s a different story.

        Hi Michelle,

I totally get it they should just totally get rid of that side of the store.

“But honey these are the only cloths they had.”

        “Aren’t they pretty”? 😁

      Hi Patty.

I totally understand….I can’t count the times I have got so damn bored wandering around the mens section……whether dressed or in drab……and mostly end up going home with something much nicer from the ” you know where” department…. haha..

      Smiles, grace xx

        Well Gracie,

The only way there could be style and color on the men’s dept is if you are there en femme sweetie.

        That would do it😁

Hi Patty There has never been a time i was not distracted by what was for sale in the woman’s dept. I would buy clothes from the men’s dept.  just to get a opportunity to walk through the ladies dept and look at at all the clothes I really wanted. I would of tried on the clothes in the dressing room also.

      Luv Stephanie
