Hi girls, hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!
I was wondering if stockings can be found, made in a stronger and thicker material like cotton? I keep tearing mine, I try to be delicate and gentle putting them on but, inevitably… a tear 😡 … I haven’t found any thicker made stockings yet but if you have a link or know of any please let me know..and they need to be for cd’s ( to be long enough to cover my long legs).

      Thanks!

      ❤️💖

I’m wearing 120 deneir tights (I prefer full blackout tights).

Ahh ok so the higher the denier number the thicker?

Yep. All denier is is the width of the fabric. The higher the number, the more opaque and naturally, the thicker. Plus these are quite warm.

The bigger the number the thicker the stockings. Be mindful that getting suspender clasps to hold is more difficult the thicker the denier. If you wear suspender belts make sure they have metal clasps as they are stronger than flimsy plastic.

If you have hairless legs 20 denier might work fine as it does for me. Maybe panty hose would be better?

Angela, thanks, I do have hairless legs.. and i do wear garter belt so I’ll keep that in mind. I think I’ll buy both thick stockings and thicker hose just have both on hand..

I have no personal experience of these, and they are expensive, and I’ve somehow managed to get on their mailing list (I enter lots of contests), but these folks – Sheertex – claim to have the ‘world’s strongest tights.’

Someday, maybe, if I have a small win in the lottery or at a casino.

Absolutely hate those runs — especially when I really like a pair — because going out to buy them is stressful! Lol.

Ha yes, I get so upset, I slowly pull them up my silky smooth legs, or if they are hose, wiggling my hips as I gently pull, and then I look down and there it is… a run, a rip, a tear!! I just want to cry…

Me too! What’s funny is my different reactions to similar types of scenarios depending on which “nature” of myself I’m most feeling. As a guy when I break or tear things — shoelace, button on my pants, etc, I get mad and sometimes yell (hopefully without cussing … but not always, sadly). As Stephanie, I wanna cry! Lol. Weird I know.

      Hi Effie,

Stockings are wonderful and a joy to wear. So gloriously feminine.

      Downside are the runs.

Effie do you know the term “denier”? That is the sheerness of the hosiery. 15 is pretty sheer, 20 is a bit more sturdy. Beyond 20, and you’re looking at tights.

Effie, if you want black you can easily find more than 20 denier.

Hi Effie! I have bought stockings on Amazon by Sofsy (60 denier, ize XL) and Pamela Mann (50 denier, size 16- 20) both of which LITERALLY caught on velcro and didn’t run. Both are about $20.00 US. Both have the silicone stay up bands which actually work!! I think you should be able to wear a garter belt if you feel it necessary. Or, they may make a non-stay up version which might be cheaper. Both are opaque, but since I can’t get away with shaving my legs (my SO might get suspicious) they work better for me. I also have a pair of the Sofsy stay up fishnets that I really like. Good luck! Hugs!

      Hi Effie,

Stockings are inherently delicate, and hold-ups don’t; so I’m now wearing tights, which can be found in up to 70 denier. Very snag resistant, as as a bonus, I get some extra tummy and package control.

      Hugs,

Gloves have already been mentioned.. But I would not even try to put my stockings on without using gloves. “Gently does it” and you should not have any problems.

Yes, you can buy thinker but you lose a little of the silkiness feel with it then. Recently I started buying the little footies in hose that are in black or nude, I put these on first. Hard as I try to soften my heels or nails, I would get a run in the hose. So I tried these and they hid well because they are no show and protect the heel and toe before the stocking goes on. Since doing this, I have not had a ruined pair of stocking since, which is good because some of them are expensive

Hi Effie another idea have for the latex look in stockings is if know how to paint get some of body latex paint off places like Amazon all types of color and can paint them when ready to take off just peel off of course if have any hair that will come off too somewhat. Seen it done and looks really nice on some people. Fixing to start doing it myself.

Stockings, if they are real silk just won’t have the stretch that nylon stockings have. Both types must be treated similarly. Bunch up the stocking to almost the toe then move slowly up the leg. Best if you have just shaved your legs. They should easily slide up your leg but watch your finger nails. Wear stocking gloves so you don’t snag them. It’s all in the technique.
