    Hiya Sisters,

If you were expecting something sentimental, this probably ain’t it.

What is it that Santa brings you when you’re bad?

It’s a fact that I like geology, and in particular, coal.  You probably see where this is going but just for entertainment I’ll digress a moment…

Many transgender people regard the butterfly as a symbol of our journey, for the obvious reasons.  I see coal the same way… a diamond is a lump of coal that finished its job, the diamond soul created thru intense heat and pressure.

Many years ago at Christmas, a dear friend visited some family in Tennessee who lived down the road from an abandoned mine.  He brought me back not just a lump of coal, but a boulder of it…this thing must weigh fifty pounds or so.  Shiny black anthracite.

The best Christmas gift I ever received is the one that according to tradition, everyone else wishes to avoid 😅

Sisters, Merry Christmas.  I hope you’re all safe and well, love ya ❤

The best gift I ever received was from my wife when she said I will be living the rest of my life as a woman and her housewife. I get to enjoy this gift every Christmas and every day of my life.

A Scottish tradition – still practiced by many at new year  – is called “First Footing” – or the “first foot in the house after midnight.” People call on their friends and neighbours and take with them a lump of coal. It’s supposed to bring good luck.  A wee dram of “fuskie” is usually involved too.

While going to grad school in London, my wife and I took a trip to Edinburgh for Hogmanay and what a wonderful time we had! We did the normal Hogmanay things, including the candlelight procession, sipping (mostly) whiskey, and basking in Scottish hospitality. The highlight was buying and wearing my first kilt, which I almost never took off. One tipsy night, I convinced my wife to allow me to buy matching plaid panties, which led to several nights of incredible sex. I still have those panties and that kilt. I may wear them later tonight!

        Hugs and Happy New Year!

Hi Samantha, the best Christmas gift I had was giant pebble, I found it on the beach one day, and like most kids it was gold to me. All week I carried this round gold with me every day down to beach with my grandfather while we were on holiday. Well I buried it in the sand, and yes your right, I couldn’t  find it, absolutely devastated I had to go home that weekend. Well 5months later we rushed down stairs excited that it was Christmas day, ripped open my presents, toys, books, games, chocolate etc. Suddenly all the presents had gone, well a least I thought so. Mum went to the tree and retrieved a box, had my name on it, but not who it was from. “Go on”  said mum” open it”. Slowly I unwrapped it, and open the box. Wow there was my round gold, and a note from Grandad “Been a digging for your gold because I love you”

Well I just cried, mum started, then sister, what a Christmas day, what a simple but beautiful present. YES I still have that round gold, and sits below a picture of my grandparents

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what is loved by one is scorned by another.

It is wonderful that you can see the beauty in dark areas and find comfort in things which are often disregarded as unusable.

Our lives in the TG/CD spectrum are often kept in the dark, but as you say, that is where the brightest diamonds are formed.

      hugs health and happiness

      HI Samantha,

      Merry Christmas my friend.

I think your worthy of more than a lump of coal but its the practical gift that keeps on giving.

you can always burn it and heat with it.LOL

Well, Merry Christmas Sam,thats quite a gift. A geologist eh? I’ve seen them on shows like big bang theory, explains alot lmao. You know I jest.

I enjoy pretty rocks on the beach sometimes and being stoned as a teenager but thats about it. I actually toured what was a working coal mine in Nova Scotia when I was a kid, I was then and am still in total awe of it. I’m not claustrophobic and spend enough time in confined spaces but to think about practically living your life down there blows me away. It, the product, and its people are strong and beautiful.

As for the Santa thing, he knows very well that we can be both naughty and nice at the same time, well me anyways. That makes your thoughts about diamonds from coal a very fitting gift indeed. I remember bringing my mom back a pair of earings from there that she had and wore for many years.

Thanks for the thoughts and memory jog

      Liv

Yea shoulda gone into pharmaceuticals instead, maybe 😅

That’s really cool tho Liv, a coal mine!!  I used to go spelunking quite a bit.  That was fun.  And I do get claustrophob lol that made it all the more fun.  I’d love to check out an actual coal mine sometime, working or otherwise  🙂
