Here’s another poem I wrote around the same time. I was in Florida, near Sarasota with my spouse, and we spent the last night walking the beach on Lido Key – moon, stars, gentle breeze, about 75 degrees, absolutely gorgeous night. I wrote this within a day or two afterwards, thinking deeply on my cd life as well as other parts of my life at the time. I had also met up with another cd/ts – we were both in male drag – during the week, who I had met online through another site. We talked for an hour or so, shared experiences, hopes, dreams. Only time I ever met a like soul in person, although I’ve emailed off and on with several others.
The Call
I stand on the shore gazing out o’er the sea
The moon glistens above, raining its beams on me
The breeze washes my body, I feel its briny smell.
The surf breaks against the land; I hear its wet yell.I walk through the sand, my toes getting wet
From waves that start some place, I know not yet.
Soft comes a voice calling from somewhere out there,
Someone or thing murmuring, casting a dare.‘Come to lands once known, forgotten in time
Places filled with beauty, enchantment sublime
On faraway shores, life’s true pleasures I’ll give
Forever to love, forever to live.’Shall I answer it? What shall I reply?
Respond to a destiny, will it give me a ‘why’.
Forego my past life, a new one to lead
Bid farewell to this place, to sate a deep need. And then a sound familiar calls sweetly to me
‘It’s time that we go, for there are old friends to see.’
I look back at her wondering, did she not hear the call?
Was it only in my thoughts, was it even there at all?I turn from the sea and walk back to the light
Brushing the sand from my feet in the night
I gather my things, life onward I’ll go
Someday to return, maybe someday to know. - November 17, 2019 at 6:37 am #249876
Hi Chloe,
There is a Poets Corner on the ‘most popular topics’ page. There are many poems that come and go so why don’t you immortalise your offerings there?
Very good by the way……..Sally xx
