The girl in the mirror (repost)

This poem was inspired by one of my public photos and can also be found attached to the photo. I’ve posted this some weeks before but because of some problem with the site it didn’t stay up. Having been asked to repost the poem I now do so.

 

THE GIRL IN THE MIRROR

 

Sometimes, when I look in the mirror,

I can see this girl.

Occasionally quite clearly,

but mostly kind of faded,

as if she’s struggling to resist

disappearing into the background blur.

She seems to ask something from me,

yes even demanding it,

but I don’t know what.

Or maybe I do know

but am afraid to acknowledge it.

Because I know that we

are somehow connected,

I and the girl in the mirror,

who is me.
