The Journey Continues

These past few months have seen me let Cyn spread her wings and fly-
Just feet above the ground of course, not soaring through the sky.
The fear of falling still remains- though less and less each day
As confidence builds bit by bit. But now who knows what way
My future path may lead-will I remain a cloistered pearl?
Or shall I shed the shell I’m in-reveal the hidden girl?
I tiptoe to the boundaries in my manner and my dress
And as I brush my longer hair I find I must confess-

I like the way I look when I am dressing to the nines!
Yet still the world builds fences and insists that one confines
Oneself to what was present at the time when I was born-
And if I dare to challenge that, society will scorn.
Too oft I feel I’m shouldering a load I cannot bear-
‘Til someone reaches out their hand to me and says “I care!”
Those simple words remind me that I need not feel alone.
The love within the hearts of friends by actions will be shown.

Accepting me just as I am, they truly do inspire.
And so with growing confidence I dare to travel higher.
The vistas that before me spread are limitless and wide-
No longer need I trepidate when e’er I step outside.
The road ahead is hazy –not sure where the journey ends
But now I know I’ll be okay for I have many friends
Who only want the best for me whatever that entails-
Because of them I’ll triumph over all of life’s travails.

So thanks to every one of you who’ve touched this lady’s heart
And given me support whene’er I thought I’d fall apart.
Mere words cannot suffice to pay the debt I owe to you,
For giving me the courage to begin my life anew.

)There are too many friends I’d love to mention here but I’m afraid I might accidentally leave someone out, so I’ll dedicate the above to all of you-you know who you are! 🙂 <3
