      Actually last weeks book first:

I came across the author in an interview in the Guardian about another book being published shortly. The Gender Games by Juno Dawson, part autobiography, part critique of the destructive role rigid gender norms often have on young people (and adults). Very readable even through the descriptions of the dangerous lifestyle the author adopted as a young gay man, on the way to discovering she was in fact a young trans woman. I will definitely read her other books.

The Descent of Man by Grayson Perry; still part way through this, but I particularly liked the author describing how he was “so uncomfortable with the unconscious signals of gender that I couldn’t handle my aunts flowers and rural scenes emerging through the milk as I ate my cereal.” I sympathise Grayson.

stay safe (pref indoors, with a book, and some cute clothes!)
