One of my goals for 2020 is to learn to do my makeup. I have experimented with lipstick, eye liner, eye shadow, and mascara, but really just playing. This year I want to learn how to make my face appear more feminine while still looking somewhat natural. I have watched videos on contouring with light and dark colours to hide or emphasize features and on eye makeup, but now I am looking for some tips.
What would be your 3 top tips for CD / TG makeup?

D.Well this is a loaded question since makeup is all about changing your looks. This is why women do it and what we do it for. That beinging said i think;
1 A good foundation so you have a clean (more feminine) canvas to begin with.
2 Learning the type of eye you have so you can wear your shadow/mascara/liner to fit your eye. I have a hooded eye so i apply my makeup so it enhances the eye and still makes it feminine and pop.
3. I think once i started to learn how to do my eye brows it also helped enhance my feminine look.I also think the right color lipstick applied cleanly and conservative makes the look complete.

Sara.There’s a book called “Face Forward” by K. Aucoin — It’s full of really cool step by step makeovers and I seem to remember there being some pages with boy to girl makeup — Also learn to do your eyebrows! It’s amazing how much it will help your look — B.

Hi Jay, I have to ask did you go dressed as a lady so the make up looked normal or did you take the make up off before you left. I do think you are right a professional demo would help no end but it also takes a lot of practice as well. Sandra x
Delora, I have found that on my own experimenting with makeup has proven to be the best result for me. Just play with it until you find the look you are trying to achieve. It takes awhile because there are a GAZILLION different ways to blend coloring. But trial and error is how we perfect look….Gigi
I don’t think I can add any more words to it, practice makes perfect, knowing your skin color is a good thing for cover up and foundation, for eye shadow practice, practice. that’s how I learned how to apply eye shadow, not to much but enough to look good and passable, lip stick is easy to apply. foundation and cover up is tricky to apply but practice is the only way to learn.

Others have said it, get a professional make-up specialist to give lessons and help choose products! I wasted loads of money trying all kinds of expensive stuff (Because I’m Worth It!), then went to a CD friendly woman who works in the film industry as a make-up artist. She explained that regardless of gender, skin type, how oily it is, etc etc all make a difference to the work and the products. She spent quite a while testing and trying, then said to go out for a bit to let the make-up “wear in”, then adjusted it. I had gone there saying “Give me an hour how to do this…”. She refused, saying to do it right we need to get both technique and products right so no go. After 3 sessions she and I were really happy, not caked on like a drag queen and really highlights the best parts! And not the most expensive products either!
Look for someone like her, it will save you $$$ in wasted purchases and get you a much better image, and since the face is what really tells people who we are will get you to passing sooner!
