We are those lucky few
Who see life beyond our birth gender
Who have taken those steps into the other
Or maybe both or neitherWe take not the other for granted
Whether MTF or FTM
We can never truly know life as another gender
But our souls have glimpsed some of their lifeSome of us are jealous but remember
Some of them are jealous of us too
Why couldn’t I have been born female?
Why couldn’t I have been born male?
It makes you smile sometimesMost don’t truly wish to have been born another gender
It satisfies something deep in our souls
Something we can’t explain to others
Yet it is something we wish they could acceptAnd many do, never forget that
We have to thank them for allowing us to be ourselves
This world can be crazy sometimes
Unaccepting of things different, outside their normNorm? Norm Abram? Norm Peterson?
Normal is a setting on the washing machine
Or so some of us like to say
But what is normal? Is it the majority?
Or rather is it that which our hearts tell us we are?
We are all normal here no matter who you areSo follow your heart, let your soul sing
We those lucky few
We who have come to accept ourselves as we are
For we are no accident, not deviants

Very nice! I particularly enjoyed the bit about ‘normal’

Thanks Rei. It always struck me that sometimes the T community has a little bit of an odd sense of “normal”. Yes we’re all normal but that’s because we’re just doing what comes naturally to us. And really that’s the only definition that matters.
