Today was the second time I was asked this question. I was at a focus group for 2 hours and afterward a man sitting next to me, who I found out was from the same small town asked me that question. He had been a school bus driver for my kids and looked at me funny trying to figure me out.
I did tell him after a minutes hezitation that I was ‘gender questioning’.

Nobody has ever asked me that question. It’s really nobody’s concern, but if I were ever asked about my madian name, I’d smile and say  Smith and leave it at that

Yes OI told him I was ‘gender questioning’ but I didn’t tell him my male name.

Sabrina. That’s the name I chose when I first began to indulge my femme persona. It’s from that show I used to watch back in the 90s. Sabrina the teen witch. I had this wish that I be a witch and can turn myself into a pretty gal with a touch of my magic wand 🪄

The first time was before my class reunion in a coffee shop talking to the owner, when she asked me I told her my male last name and found out she knew my brother who lives down the street. Then we had a nice short conversation about families.
