ParticipantRegistered On: December 11, 2021Topics: 4Replies: 4Has thanked: 54 timesBeen thanked: 87 timesI suppose I’m always trying to assemble a soundtrack for my life. These days, as I explore this new side of me, I’ve been drawn to songs of female empowerment and change. It may seem strange, but for the last two weeks, I’ve actually been inspired by a song from a Disney film. If you forget the movie meaning you can actually find some trans empowerment in “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana.
What song inspires or empowers your journey?

By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
But don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live

That’s fascinating!
I even bought that single when it came out… 》blush 《
The song is amazing, but, as stated, my memory does suck…
/edit: I stand correct!
It was the B side of “Substitute”, until the 2 sides were flipped – and it was the Righteous Brothers song, not The Who’s song, which was also covered by Clout, before Gloria covered it.
But the B Side of Clout’s “Substitute” was “When Will You Be Mine”, while the B side of Gloria’s version was the original version of “I Will Survive”!!!

There is such a long list, but if I had to strip it down to three they would be,
1. Walk by Foo Fighters.
2. I believe in a thing called love by The Darkness.
3. Your love alone is not enough by Manic Street Preachers.
I have always been a rock chick at heart.

At this season of Advent it’s Handel’s Messiah and Oh Holy Night.
My Hymns would be Saviour Thy dying love and Beneath the Cross of Jesus.
There are so many other Hymns and pieces of Sacred music mostly from the old days.
Non religious music would be Jennifer Rush singing The power of love, Whitney Houston singing I will always love you
Barbara Dickson/Elaine Paige singing I know him so well,
These are just a few. Music has and always will be a big part of my life. You will notice that the non religious songs I’ve mentioned are sung by females.
Is that the feminine part in me coming in?7 users thanked author for this post.

I’d give the nod to The Dillards, “You’ve Got To Be Strong”
The chorus goes
You’ve Got To Be Strong
You’ve Got To Be Strong
You’ve Got To Be Strong
And keep on hangin’ on
And have faith in yourselfOn record it’s very uplifting.
Brings me up when i’m feeling down.Van Morrison’s “You Gotta Make It Through The World”
is grittier but helps too.Little Feat’s “Willin'”
Mike Oldfield’s “Platinum” which is an instrumental but it builds to such an ecstatic climax i’m always in a better mood when it’s done.
Thanks for asking.
