I tried my hand at poetry a few years ago and put this (and others) up on a totally non-gender related site, but I think they might work here. Here’s the first:
Who am I? What am I? Sometimes I wish I knew.
Who are you? What are you? I wonder about that too.Perhaps, I‘m just what I am, and also what you see.
My life really is quite open, well…at least most of me.We’re the sum of our parts. That’s what I’ve heard tell.
But either I can’t add; or just maybe all too well. Each morning as I rise, hope springs all anew.
Today is surely the day when my dreams finally come trueBut minutes after I’m up, reality usually sets in.
I’m just the same today as I have always been.My face is my own, just like the rest of me.
It’s what I carry around; it’s what others can seeSo, take me as I am for that’s all that I’ll be.
I’ll try not to disappoint; I’ll do what’s expected of me.I go through this life doing the best that I can
Often less than I had hoped; but sometimes…a bit more than. - November 12, 2019 at 3:32 am #247834

Poetry is a good way to find yourself and see what’s behind our masks. Sometimes my life is like a carnival.
