If there was a genie that granted you one choice to work in fully dressed what would it be

I always wanted to be a beuatician or make up artist but instead i become a chef

    • #252759

To work around all those lacey, stain, silk panties, bras, corsets, garter belts & foundation would be thrilling, exciting and exhilarating to help customers find what they are shopping for.  Though I’m not sure what the difference is between a hair dresser & beautician but I’m sure some one will let us know.  I always considered both of them as Hair Benders……

    • #252762

I consider myself a cross dresser.  So this affects the clothes I would prefer to wear.  It doesn’t change my personality, my interests, my occupational choices.

If it were acceptable, I would go to work in a woman’s top and skirt or a dress.  Not having to wear makeup or any kind of body shaping.  Not trying to pretend to be a woman.  And while company policy would say it is acceptable, in reality everyone would look at you or would ask about it.  And that doesn’t cover running errands before or after work.

When I go out, I know that I would be more accepted if I presented completely as a woman than a man in women’s clothes.  While I enjoy the experience of fully presenting as a woman, and do it on occasion, it is not something I really want to do on an every day basis.

    • #252767

Imagine helping women find the right intimates.  Working with all the panties, bras, nighttime, stockings, garters.  Wow.  I just may have to sit down for a minute because I can’t think about that too much.

Mmm, my dream job would be to run a full service CD\TG spa and beauty shop. In addition to the normal spa and beauty services. I would also offer: Wigs, Breast forms, Body shapers and clothing from a variety of sources so that CD\TG girls could find out what works for them before they invest their money.

I would love to work as a flight attendant (oh, those Pan Am ladies!), as a secretary or in retail clothing sales, especially at a bridal shop.

      • #252861

Oh Petra, you reminded me of my admiration of all the lovely flight attendants I have admired over the years.  I often day dream about the way they are dressed while working their flights, imaging myself dressed the way they are and working the cabin.  Now I will be thinking about that all day long!

    • #252910

I would love to work as a haidresser. I came oot to my haidresser before my GF. She and the entire salon staff, are so non judgemental. I had no idea. Now if I only new how to cut, style hair etc. My favorite experiences are going to the salon dressed now.

    • #252918

As some have suggested, I don’t really want to work in clothing or personal care.  I spent most of my career as a middle and executive manager in government.  This is what I was really good at.  Most of my career, I wore a suit and tie.  I always envied the women I worked with in their skirt suits, silky blouses, pencil skirts, hose and heels, with tasteful jewelry.  Some of my pictures indicate it, but women’s business or business casual is my favorite attire.  It wasn’t prevalent while I was still working, but I’ve noticed that some women have made skinny jeans or tights with boots or booties, tunics, blazers, or sweaters look pretty classic in the work environment.  They’re already suitably dressed for happy hour after the office.

Couldn’t agree more. Spent my whole career in an office wearing ale business attire. Women wore skirts and dresses and I envied them. The ones that wore pant suits didn’t interest me. How I would have loved sitting at my desk, working wearing a dress or a skirt with a silky blouse.

    • #252954

This is a bit off the wall but thinking about it I’d love to be a photographer specialising in taking shots of all you lovely ladies here in CDH, I think travelling around to their homes all dressed up would be fantastic and having the opportunity to meet and chat to so many of you would be so special.

I’d like to work in a women’s clothing store. My imagination says that it would be very satisfying to help women with their clothing choices. Of course, I’d like to do it in my female mode – so it is highly unlikely to ever happen. But the imagination works…..

Paula, that’s a great idea! I’ve always been interested in photography, it’s not a gender specific profession and allows a lot of flexibility. I think I would gravitate towards weddings where I could stay abreast of wedding fashions and photograph beautiful brides in beautiful dresses.

    • #253035

I used to work at a bike shop/hobby store. I ask why the two areas, he said when times are good people will buy the bikes and hobbies. When times are bad, or winter, people still need to occupy there time with hobbies.

A longer idea I have but I will make it short. I have always wanted to open a small bar/restaurant and a clothing store. Since I am a history buff, it would be old timey. Both men’s and women’s vintage clothing.

I do love what I do now but even in women’s clothes the appropriate attire is a uniform with slacks, so….  I do love skirts, blouses and heels so I would want some type of management job in my current industry of aviation where I could dress in appropriate professional women’s wear most of the time yet still be able to put on a woman’s uniform and go fly to feed that fix. Unfortunately aviation is still a pretty testosterone ridden profession and most pilots wouldn’t be very accepting so my current “uniform” also includes pretending to be a man. I am definitely further along the tg spectrum than cd so for me it really is a uniform.  Fun to wish and think about the what ifs!

An upmarket lingerie store would be nice, (hello Simone Perele), but since I’ve loved female period fashion since childhood, it would be in a store/business that makes period fashions such as the Marie Antoinette and “Scarlet O” Caty” gowns I already own.

CDH dont allow plugs so I seem to “Recollect” there’s one such “.biz” in Michigan. Anyone wanting to look that up should just consult Mr Google!!

I would most like to be Ellie at my current job (engineering) enjoying full acceptance without the stigma or uneasiness of being negatively judged by coworkers or clients. I truly love to share my Ellie side with others, but at the same time, fear ridicule and rejection. Achieving the confidence needed to be Ellie among people whom I interact with frequently is a big goal for me these days, and, for me, an extremely difficult one. Not sure I’ll ever get there, but the journey is exciting.

I chose OTHER as I work in a corporate environment at an Administrative level which is a predominantly female office. It would be great to be “one of the girls” than one of the token males.

    • #254165

I work as a mental health practitioner within the NHS which is of course an organisation that would be totally accepting. The problem would be acceptance by my users of services (clients). As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I’ve already been groped by clients which in the circumstances was very unwelcome and gave me an unexpected insight into a woman’s world.

I think that given the chance I would re-qualify and move into oncology nursing or if the genie could also role back the years to half my current age, to study to be a psychiatrist and hopefully a consultant psychiatris. That would mean thaf within certain constraints, I could wear what I wanted which would be a comfortable skirt suit, blouse, stockings and ‘sensible’ heels.

      Thancs for the post.
      Take care girls.

      Anne-Marie.

I hate gender stereotypes particularly with regard to occupations. I am a geologist, a traditionally male-dominated occupation, but for no good reason. a person’s skill as a geologist does not depend on what’s between your legs.
At work, particularly in the field we all dress pretty much the same, the clothing is dictated by the environment. It’s after work, at the bar or club that the women really shine and it’s then that I wish things were a little different. After a night out with the crew I go back to my room a slip on something fem for an hour or two just to feel a bit of what I was missing while out.

Not sure I would do any of the listed occupations, I absolutely hate “gender norms”. I am an auto mechanic by trade and am ashamed to admit that I have fed into the macho bullshit culture before I found who I really am.

The shop I work at employs only a few women, but they are each amazing and work their little bootys off to break down gender barriers.

I am envious of them for I am very much not brave enough to stand for everything I believe in.

One day perhaps there won’t be the stigma involved in the industry, but I am not holding my breath, progress seems to be non existent in the field of auto mechanics. Many of the guys are comfortable hanging calendars of women on their tool boxes, but have yet to see one with anything “cute” on display. Perhaps someday things will be different.

Well! I am lucky here because I am already able to teach in my profession as a ballroom dance teacher. The thing is- I dance better female than male in high heels too. What it will allow me go do is give me a chance to show creativity which has been stunted in male dance development.

My examiner friend says I maybe the only transgender dance teacher in the UK? He has never met any others only me he said.

But this a side I would do all the jobs referred too but I would have to train to cut hair to for fill that role.

Well. I’m already a working artist so, a make up artist and hairdresser would be a whole lot of fun especially in femme mode.  I can’t think of anything that could really bring one’s feminine side to the surface than these two occupations.
When I was younger I dated a woman who was studying to become one and she used me as her model on many occasions and I got some real first hand tips. It was most lovely and a lot of fun.  I even let her dress me all the way to see if her work fit the outfit.  It was so outstanding and crazy girlie.  I’m pretty sure she knew that I enjoyed it immensely but she never came out and asked if I crossdresseed.  So it would be really fun to make people beautiful all day long.

I would want to work with shoes or clothes, as I would be able to give honest and pretty good advice about what looks good on a girl.

I know it’s only my opinion, but when you chat and share opinions, you end up with the right look

That said, I don’t have the artist eye for detail to do makeup, and would be scared to spoil someone’s hair!

I wouldn’t advise on lingerie, as I think it’s a personal thing. I wouldn’t be able to stop gawping either – women look so pretty in lingerie. Best saved for those special moments!

      Shoes and clothes, though.

Working anything women’s clothing would be great but I would spend more than I made. If I see something cute I cannot help myself I have to have it. Yesterday I had to go to the local super store for household supplies and while headed to the isle with soaps the cutest pink tube dress caught my eye. I kept walking but after getting soap I found myself back in the clothing grabbing one and putting it in my cart.

I seem to be in the minority with this question. I chose personal trainer as I have always been interested in helping others in their fitness journeys. I owned a couple gyms before retiring last June and absolutely loved the training aspect of the job. Being able to do it while fully dressed would be a dream occupation. I most always wore female jeans and female polo shirts with panties and a camisole underneath. Also wore light makeup daily. Very few of my clients ever knew that.

I was very fortunate years ago to find a job in a thrift outlet called out of the closet which sold used clothes mostly in hollywood. Since it is a gay based non profit for the aids community I was able to dress fully fem as the stores cd. There were a lot of cds that visited the store and I would put them at ease and make suggestions knowing all about sizing. I serviced three or four a day and made lots of friends along with the guys in the gay community. I did this for six months loving it but had to move on to a better paying job since it was minimum wage. It was wonderful experience

I also had a tg hairdresser who knew how to style my unisex hairdos so I could comb my hair into a male or female style. I love the beauty salon chat as well lol

I was torn between “other” and “personal trainer”.  I would love to work in an office setting where I can wear women’s office attire, but I also love fitness, so I had to side with personal trainer.  So no office attire, but wearing yoga pants and an athletic top is also good in my books.

A personal trainer…of men…. have fun each day viewing them and have the excuse that any cute ones you can ‘touch accidently’ and flirt a little.

As a footnote to my previous comments, as I read those of others, it occurs to me that regardless of the job or the environment, I’d really enjoy being around cis women (as coworkers) who know that I am a CD and enjoy it.  Sharing my appreciation of women’s clothing, developing my style, and enjoying the “sisterhood” sounds like fun.  No offense to any other CDs!

      An airline hostess:-)

An Airline hostess or a legal secretery, both of which require beautiful uniforms or sexy power suits and heels.

I’ve often discussed this with a friend. Opening up a Lingerie shop with her name in it. and a really cute slogan. Which I will not say here because I’m still trying to talk her into it. I really think she’d love it because she’s super cute, sexy, fun, open minded and bi.
She’s actually one of my bestest friends ever.

Just think all those wonderful shoes with staff discount to boot 👠👠👠👠👠👠👠

I’m a full time EMT with a commercial service. Which is a field that is already predominantly women (at least where I work). And we all wear the same uniform, so technically I get to dress at work everyday.

      Paula…

I think , for me the choice is obvious… a personal dresser and shopper! Sort of like Gok Wan but femme and better.

      Love Polly

Either as a secretary or retail sales in women’s wear, think of the discounts

      Hi Paula,

      I went with other.

I would like to be dressed in a sophisticated outfit, wearing glasses, hair pinned up – as the head librarian.

Have that innocent look, reserve personality – the wolf in sheep’s clothing.

      Hi Paula,

I voted ‘Other’ as I would love to be an airline hostess in the ‘Sixties when they were all top totty.

        Excellent choice !

Yes, definitely in the 1960’s where they wore those short A line skirts / dresses with pantyhose – would get to show my legs off !

      Definitely in a lingerie shop!

I’d love to be the receptionist at an upscale beauty salon or day spa. It would be great to dress for work everyday. This way I could really use my dresses and heels.

    • #779824

Well, if it has to be work… I chose other. I do want to be dressed fabulous, and only work sort of so… I’d want to be Vanna White.

I chose personal trainer, but more specifically I would love to be a yoga instructor. Wearing cute spandex everyday is just so appealing to me. I imagine teaching a class then spending the rest of the day in comfy leggings and some cute flip flops or slides, showing off my pretty toes. A girl can dream.

If I’m being honest though I have always dreamed of being a female flight attendant. Tight dresses, pantyhose, and cute pumps and heels? Sign me up! I dated a flight attendant in college and while this is likely a whole other story, I recently came out to her as Lexi and she was amazing. She (and most other FAs are very accepting of LGBT), and the funny thing was she said she always figured we would be having this conversation lol. Those are my choices though!

      Flight Attendant

Female circus ring leader…. Always been a fantasy of mine 😉

Well, since flight attendant and librarian roles seem to be taken, can I apply for a role either a model (larger sizes obvs) or a TV newsreader (BBC or ABC, not any of those dodgy commercial channels)?

    • #779864

Well if I worked in a lingerie shop, I would have to be a runway model .🤩  Get to try on and model EVERYTHING! 🥳Talk about died and went to heaven. 😇 And , they have huge employee discounts.🤗 P.S. hope it’s a plus size shop 😃LOL

    • #779878

Retail jobs are so soul sucking, I’d have to do something in the service industry lol. I’m not sure I’d make a great hair dresser, or make up artist… So I think if I had the option I’d love to be a bartender while dressed

    • #779884

I have always dreamed of being a cocktail waitress working nights at a very busy bar. And the owner has all us girls dressing in a sexy, very short skirt, uniform.

      • #779901

With a cheeky free cocktail or two, it would be fun.
