How did you come to choose your femme name?
Mine is the name my older sister called me when dressed me as a girl and told me I was her little sister. Interestingly, I have no conscious memory of this dressing and am not sure what age I was (maybe 5 or 6?). It is a part of family lore brought up periodically at gt together When I began to crossdress on my own ate age 11, I kept the name Cynthia ! 🙂

I’m like Megan,Heather was going to be my name if I was born a girl,but I also just liked it and thought it fit.I took the last name Jameson because I’m a huge James Bond fan and it’s my way of being a Bond girl,besides that Moneypenny sounded silly.

My name just came to me the first time I decided I needed a name. It’s kind of a feminization of my male name, but only because it rhymes. I started out with the diminutive – Millie, and then decided Millie needed a formal name as well – so Millicent for Millie, and Teasedale because sometimes Millie teases me, and it sounded good with Millicent. In a way it’s kind of like being named for an old maiden aunt – but that’s just a fantasy.
Initially, I came up with a female name, that used the initials of my male name. But it never felt completely right. I used this name, when I initially started full time.
After a very major falling out with my family, I came up with my name, as it now is, as a way to have a female name I liked, craft a complete break from my past, and to have a name that showed my interest in the furry community without it being immediately obvious.After all these years of dressing I had never thought to give my
girl side a name. I had to pick one when I joined my first online forum
late last year. There was the usual feminine version of my male name
but that was too easy and I didn’t really like that name.
I just made a list of my favorite girl names, excluding relatives and such,
and compared my favorite picture of myself dressed to the names.
There were many runner ups but in the end Samantha called to me.For me like my daughters names were the inspiration from a woman I met with that name that hit ma at that particular moment – “wow that’s a pretty name” the other part was when I was thinking of this years back in a heavily depressed state I wanted to keep my initials so I would never lose my true identity. My middle name on the other hand I struggled with the w. Went with Willow for several years but was not fond of it. Early this year changed it to Wynn because I like it so much better. Darcy Wynn sounded so much better and was a better fit.
Later after joining this site, I’ve since adopted the middle name Bainsley from a character from a movie I enjoy.I always find the stories of how gals come to their names interesting too…
My name Adriana came from the TV Show The Sopranos, being Italian it was a sunday staple in my house, but to me every time the character Adriana La Serva came on…I melted, not that she is all that hot, (she looks good though)..but it was refreshing to see a gal on screen instead of fat italians. I always loved her nails, and makeup.
I also always loved Victoria Secret Model Adriana Lima…

xoxoMy story is a bit like Samantha’s. My name came about at about the time I discovered the World Wide Web – the internet. Although at first I resisted this technology as unnecessary, the insistence of my children, especially my son, who was undertaking higher level education, and the advice from some close friends who were familiar with it, saw us purchase our first computer. Soon we were ‘on line’ and a whole new world opened up to me.
As part of that process I’d been told about the ability to correspond in real time with people all over the world by way of chat rooms. It was the existence of such facilities that took me in a whole new direction.
One night I connected to the internet, logged on to a search engine and typed in cross dressing. I’m not completely sure what I was looking for, perhaps I just wanted to know if there were others like me beyond the very limited examples I’d read about in sensationalist press articles. One of the references that came up, though, had the word ‘chatroom’ in it so that is the link I clicked on.
Before I knew it I was at a log in screen that called for me to provide a screen name. Until that point I had never thought of myself in female terms. I had always considered that I was just a man in women’s clothes but at that screen I was stumped. Certainly, I didn’t want to type in my own name and I felt another man’s name would be inappropriate, yet had no idea what female name to give myself. I also saw that I needed to provide an email address and there was no way I’d risk compromise of my usual home email address. In the short term I panicked, closed the chat site and had a think about what to do.
My limited experience to that time told me that I could create a hotmail account using alternate details so I resolved to do so. The next task was to come up with a name but surprisingly that turned out to be quite easy. Years earlier I’d seen the James Bond movie Live and Let Die in which the main female lead was played by the actress Jane Seymour. The actress had borrowed her name from the third wife of England’s King Henry VIII. That Jane Seymour had been King Henry’s favourite because she had borne him a son. The actress appealed to me not only for her beauty but for her strength of character and for her work with people with disabilities.
I thus decided that my femme side would be a stronger character than the male host I’d come to dislike. For simplicity, and to avoid any suggestion that I was trying to impersonate the still-living actress I abbreviated the name. From that day I became JaneS.
Skyler is the name my mom would of picked if she ever gave birth to a daughter.
My name was derived from a lost key chain I found back in high school. While it wasn’t my first girl name, it is the ONLY one I have work in public as a real girl. I was joining a web site back in 2005 and needed a: a girl name and b: a name that was new and unique to me. The name on the key chain was Rosa Lee and my first choice for a girl name was Rosalie. Well, that name was already taken so I dropped the ‘e’ and substituted the ‘y.’ Viola. That name was available. My middle name was a long time favorite name. I have always loved Lynne (in its various spellings) and a former girlfriend was named Lynne. Hence my girl name: Rosaliy Lynne.
I’ve tried feminized versions of my given names but nothing really ever felt right. But then a name sorta fell in my lap. My wife and I used to have a cleaning lady named Dayle. On the evening before the day Dayle came to clean we would pick up clutter to make her job a little easier, so we would say to each other ‘let’s pick up for Dayle’. She decided to retire at about the same time I retired, and since we needed to cut back on some expenses I became the house cleaner. So I became ‘Dayle’ and cleaning day has become my day to dress up.
wow Dayle. kewl way to pick a name. Lucky you to have a supportive wife too.
Rosaliy – yes I am very lucky to have a wife that understands my need to dress en femme. She doesn’t want me to go out of the house (secretly I want to go out but I will respect her wishes). I also try not to overdo it with her. She knows I dress up on cleaning day and normally I have changed back by the time she gets home from work. But occasionally I feel just sooooo good en femme that I stay dressed for her. She critiques my new outfits and makeup and has even gone out and bought similar outfits for herself. I guess the important thing I have learned is to be open and honest with her. It helps her to understand me better.
you are quite right. Openness and honesty are the keys along with constant dialog. Respect and trust are strengthened in this way and the relationship will prosper.
In time, perhaps, you and she may just have a girls night out together. One never knows how time will change you both.

I always loved Heather for some reason. No personal connection but I’ve owned it since I was about 15.
Considered Terri at one point because I had a girlfriend at the time who was the sweetest. Happiest. Good hearted person I have ever known even to this day unfortunately I screwed up what could have been my true love

Hi – Similar story to yours. Back in February of this year, I asked my Mom if she had picked a girls name for me in case I was born a girl. And she immediately answered “Krista”. And I just love it. I wish I asked her sooner. Mom passed away five weeks ago and it is more special to me. Everyone tell your Mom you love her and give her a hug!!!
Every girl name I ever came up with was taken by someone I new as a natural born female so i associated that name with them and that always felt weird so I found the name Julianne and the only association was Julianne Hugh the dancer and I thought if I could look like someone when I dressed it would be amazing to be that beautiful so L kept the name and think I am that beautiful to ME so it fits .
It does suit you Julianne-at least how you come across here in chats and posts and replies etc. ! You can almost HEAR you smiling as you type! 🙂

I have been calling myself Rachel for over 25 years. It has a very special meaning to me and is very dear to my heart.
First of all, as it is a little bit like my given name in that it starts with the same letter, it kind of gives me a small advantage or two when I am out en-femme. One thing I can do because of this is that I can get extra bank cards with just my first initial and last name on them so when I use one while I am presenting as a female it won’t get me outed because it has my full male name on it. (Pretty clever, eh? I read about this from an article I found on Google. FYI I chose the name Rachel long before I knew of this. I think this trick could still work even if your male and female names don’t start with the same letter. Try it out and let me know how it goes.)
Second, the name Rachel comes from a Hebrew word that means “a ewe” or female sheep. I have understood that a ewe is very good at caring for and protecting her little lambs. Because of the kind, sensitive, tenderhearted, gentle, caring, nurturing person that I am, and the fact that I have been a care giver for many years, it seemed to fit.
Thirdly, a beautiful woman name Rachel is at the center of one of the most romantic love stories in history. It says in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament that a man named Jacob traveled many miles to a far away country so that he could find a woman that belonged to his religion to marry. When he got there, a lovely young lady gave water to him, his traveling companions, and all there animals. After a little investigating, he found out she was the daughter of a distant relative that had move there many years before. When they first met, Jacob and Rachel fell in love. He then decide ask her father for her hand in marriage. He told Jacob he had to serve in his house for seven years as a dowry for her. So he agreed worked for his future father-in-law. When the seven years were up, there was a grand wedding. Only when he lifted the veil to see the face of his beautiful new bride, he saw it was actually Rachel’s older sister, Leah, standing next to him! He had been tricked! Turns out, it was the local custom to marry the oldest daughter off first and no one bothered to tell him. (That’s so not fair!) So poor Jacob had to work another seven years so that he could finally marry his beloved Rachel. What a wonderful day that must have been when the two love birds could finally be married. They loved each other dearly. What a sweet, romantic story! (Heavy sigh!) I still get teary eyed when I think of what my name means and this beautiful little piece of history that goes with it. I love the name Rachel and am so glad I chose it because it is so beautiful and so totally me!

My given name is Christopher hence Christina. Was teased as a boy by being called Christina because I was(and am) a bit effeminate but I was never angry and in denial just embarrassed. I fully accept her now as a part of who I am and not just a daydream.
I chose JoJo because my real name is Joe. My wife has suffered several strokes so I chose JoJo in case she’d forget where we were and call me JoJo by mistake. That way there will be a lot less explaining to do. All I would have to say is that’s the pet name she calls me when we’re alone. I’m not ashamed to be JoJo or of my crossdressing, it’s just that most of my friends and family are not very accepting things of this nature. I wanted a name that no one I knew personally shared. I know plenty of “Whitneys” and “Kelly’s,” so I wanted to be unique and come up with a name that was “original” to me in my personal life. Kelci came to mind and I thought it was cute, so that very night I set up an email account with Kelci as a first name of the email address and here I am now 14-15 months later a more confident Kelci.

I just joined Crossdresser Heaven this evening. My male name is Ron, so Rhonda or Veronica might have been obvious choices. But I chose Sheila, because it starts with SHE. I love being referred to as SHE and HER, like most of you girls. It’s so nice to be treated as a woman when out crossdressed. The first time I went shopping at Macy’s en femme with another crossdresser, we got separated in the ladies department. I asked the salesgirl who was helping me if she saw my girlfriend. That associate asked another salesgirl by saying (referring to me) … “SHE is looking for HER girlfriend”. I ADORED that.
Isn’t it just the most wonderful thing to be a crossdresser, and to dress, makeup, act, and be treated as a girl! We are SO FORTUNATE!

My name matches my initials. I got the last name from a game character I liked. ‘Diana’ is close to my male name and ‘Renee’ was my best choice to match my middle name. I love being Diana as much as I am able.

It’s funny, but I never had a name for myself en femme when I was dressing until recently. I only dressed at home, except for Halloween, so I didn’t have to have one. I thought about using the female version of my male name, Billie, but that just didn’t click with me. I chose April because I’ve always loved the name and I don’t actually personally know any other women who have it. And it feels oh so feminine to me!
I picked Ginger because I had a huge red mop of hair when I was a kid. The red has faded and I keep it short after my military life but there is still I still a hint of red in my hair so Ginger fits. Plus my male name starts with G so my initials stay the same. And I used to dream of being as pretty as Ginger on Gilligans Island back in the day. So there you have it.
I had a friend in high school that was named Brianna Leigh. I always admired her and thought that the name Brianna was a very feminine girlie name. I chose Lynn for a teacher I had that I admired very much and was one of the most feminine ladies I have ever known. So I put the two together and became Brianna Lynn. I still see my friend Brianna every time I go home to the east coast. She is also one of the first individuals I came out to. She was so over whelmed that I had chosen her name for my feminine side.
I liked wearing pantyhose with real short shorts, dresses and skirts. A girl told me I always wore such nice pantyhose and my legs always looked so sexy. She wished her legs looked as good as mine.
Her and some other girls began calling me Panty Hose. Then, because I always dressed up as a real sexy girl it somehow changed to Patty Phose. I liked it so I kept it

My wife gave me my name. I love Maddie.
My wife gave me my name after I came out to her. She came up with the idea of me going en femme on a cruise and wanted a name for me she could remember. Dava was her friends name from years back and was similar to my male name so was easy for her. Fyi, going en femme on the cruise didnt work out. Cruise ships mostly dont support CD. I have yet to go en femme in public.
I liked the name Aditi since my childhood. This was the reason.
my mother thought it wold funny to give me a female middle name and ive alway used it so it’s my given name.
