Let me justify my statement here, and when I’m finished with my presentation, I’m sure that hundreds of you will immediately be seeking out places to purchase one of the most sexy, sensual pieces of lingerie a smartly dressed woman can wear every day on her beautiful legs. So let’s dive in, shall we?Â
Let’s talk about why nylon stockings and attached garters are not just a relic of the past, but a powerful tool for any modern woman who wants to feel confident, sexy and unstoppable.
In the late 1960’s, stockings were becoming a relic; outdated with the rise of the hemline in miniskirts and micro-minis. Something new had to be created to accommodate the desire of a woman to not show her stocking tops, hence the dreaded, one-piece, suffocating, sausage stuffing pantyhose was created by the hosiery manufacturers. It was, in my opinion, the creation of the devil! Now the reason for this convention is to promote and re-introduce the nylon stocking. The moment you slip into a pair, one leg at a time, and attach them to the garters of a sexy 4, 6, or 8-strap garter belt, basque, merry widow, corset, or body shaper, you’re not just putting on an accessory, you’re stepping into a world of elegance, sophistication and sensuality.
Imagine this: You’ve just gotten dressed for the day. Maybe you’re heading to an important meeting, a dinner date, or just a day out with friends. You reach for a pair of nylon stockings, maybe silky black, off–black, espresso brown, tan, a sheer nude or even a bold color that matches your outfit. As you pull each one on, you feel the soft, smooth fabric glide up your legs, hugging your skin in all the right places. There’s something incredibly intimate about that moment, isn’t there? And it doesn’t stop there. The feeling of stocking under a dress or skirt is simply divine. It adds a layer of smoothness and comfort that’s hard to describe until you’ve felt it for yourself. To feel the unrestricted openness of your panties experiencing the cool breeze that comes up under your dress is something that is not possible with the dreaded crotch-confining pantyhose. And let’s be honest here girls, men notice. They can’t get enough of the peek-a-boo sight of a woman’s hemline ‘conveniently’ slipping up and revealing the garters pulling on their stocking tops, or, knowing they’re watching, hiking up your skirt or dress to adjust or re-pull your nylons up to your garters! I know from experience girls, being a stocking wearer all my life, it drives men absolutely crazy.

I must confess to you, girls, that I am a self-admitted nylon stocking fetishist, owning more than 50 pairs!
Now the comparison between pantyhose and stockings, there is no contest! For starters, pantyhose are very unsanitary, they tend to be somewhat unclean after a days’ wearing. You have to pull the whole garment down to your knees to sit on the toilet but, with stockings, you have your garters under your panties and just pull your panties down to do your business. If you should get a ‘run’ in one leg of pantyhose you have to throw the whole pair away. With stockings, you just pick out another single one from a matching pair to replace it; saves a lot of money. Next, there are so many types of stockings styles to choose from: full fashion that is nonstretch and made in the shape of the curve of your leg, seamed with many different heel types from Cuban to Manhattan to French, RHT (reinforced heel and toe) plain stitch, lacey welt, shimmery, the list goes on. You have a wide choice of ordering availability from eBay to foreign manufacturers, but the best come imported from the U.K. and from Italy, where their best brands are Cervin, Gio, Trapeze, Florenzi, and other elegance premier names. They are expensive but you’re worth it.
Now, imagine you’re on a date. You’ve dressed up for the occasion, maybe a little black dress, a pair of heels, and of course, a pair of sheer, black, seamed stockings with an eye-catching Havana Heel. The evening is going well, the conversation is flowing and there’s a connection building between you and your date. As the night progresses, you feel his hand brush against your leg, then move its way to your knee, then under your dress so he feels your taught garter; it will drive him insane! Oh, how sexy, how womanly you feel, and in that moment, the sensation of his touch against the smoothness of the nylons sends a shiver down your spine. It’s a moment of electric connection, a spark that ignites the chemistry between you. That’s when the power of those luscious, once thought out-of-style stockings, takes hold. It enhances not just how you look, but how you feel, and how you’re perceived by those around you. Your dinner goes great, and you agree to meet again.

I’ve worn pantihose but feel it’s a pain in the bum to get into and it squeezes my tummy!
I usually don thigh highs. I don’t have many that require a garter belt. I find the two types of stockings guite sexy! The look and the feel of the top of the stockings and the space of bare thigh is something you don’t have with pantihose.
If you gotta cover the two aforementioned stockings are the way to go!

As one of those ancients who grew up at a time when stockings, not tights, were worn by just about every female over the age of 12, I have to agree with the sentiments expressed here. Sadly, I also have to agree that we are unlikely to see stockings widely worn again and even tights are becoming scarce. I love wearing stockings, much prefer them over pantyhose. I just find my legs look for femine in them, and feeling that slight tug on the garter straps just reminds me to take more dainty lady like steps.
Yes, you capture the magic of stockings marvellously! However, health warning: they can be addictive. I have two large suitcases of, mostly unopened, stockings in the loft along with the 20 or so pairs ready for me to open and wear and some already “on the go". It started for me when I was 3 or 4 and the electric thrill hasn’t diminished over 65 years later. Tights? As I read, the words I’m taken to the fetishism of nylons & garter belts. All by themselves lying the drawer, they evoke ho/hum excitement. I have been wearing garter belts and stockings for years. I find them to be so much more comfortable then pantyhose.
I have 4 and 6 strap garter belts. Personally I prefer the 6 strap over the 4 strap. It seems the stockings are more secure with the 6 strap vs the 4 strap.
I Love how my silky slip feels brushing up against my stockings. Yes I am old school and still to this day wear a slip under my dresses and skirts.

I too am old School I’m 77+. But dressed either fancy or casually I look like a woman in her mid 50’s.
Raised during the 50’s and 60’s during the Golden age of gartered nylon Stockings, girdles, foundations, body briefers and all. I have gone one step more that you Dorothy. I have a Satin 8 strap garter belt that holds the welts up tight front to back and you can feel that lovely tug on your legs when walking …. Oh, what a feeling unlike pantyhose.Â
Meghan, Ah Yes! The girdle with the garter tabs. I have a couple of those myself. I don’t wear them as often as my garter belts. I have been looking at the open bottom girdles with garter tabs. I just have not purchased any at this time. I love to window shop though. Or that is what my daughter calls it when you look at clothing on the internet and don’t buy. @chrisfp99 I was brought up in the era of girdles and suspender belts – no panty girdles, let alone long-leg ones when I was a teen. There are similarities and differences between the sensations of wearing a suspender belt as opposed to a girdle. Depending on its style and construction, the suspender belt can feel very light and insecure (they only ever had four suspenders in my day) or really quite strong and secure. Girls I knew quickly moved from the more flimsy to the more substantial style of suspender belt.
