This is part 2 of my day 2 Keystone Conference experience.
My dinner plans had already been made a week prior. With this conference they have organized dinner outings you can sign up for. Well, I may have completely forgot about that, lol. So I put something on CDH and got a small group of ladies interested in going out together. We had a great group of ladies going, including Chloe and her wife, Kris, Valerie, as well as myself. As I’m going to the lobby to meet everyone someone steps in front of me and yells Alex! This woman had a completely different style and look that I just loved! However, I didn’t recognize this beauty in front of me. She introduced herself and it was Erika B of CDH! I had never seen a picture of her but she was stunning and what a personality; it could have filled the whole bar! Unfortunately, we only get a few seconds to talk, because I have to get going to meet my dinner group.
We all find each other in the lobby and head down the block to Carley’s, a great Italian restaurant. The dinner was so much fun. The whole table had a great conversation about everything. It was very interesting hearing the perspective of Samantha as she is the wife of one of us ladies. I really couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to go out with. After the delicious meal we all headed back to the hotel. On the way back Kris mentioned how she couldn’t believe she was walking down the street in a skirt. I had such a wonderful feeling wash over me hearing this. I was just so happy for her! That’s what this conference is about, what we were doing. It’s about building relationships, learning from others, and having so many firsts. We get back with plenty of time to get ready for the dance party that evening.
I shower, shave (again), reapply my makeup, and get dressed in a super cute blue velvet dress and silver sparkly heels. Naturally, I snap a few pics and head out the door. I must be getting better at getting ready because I actually had time to spare. I decide to see if there is anyone I recognize at the bar. I head In and spot Kelly and Elaine. I head over to their table to say hi and they invite me to join them. Kelly introduces Elaine and me, though I already recognized her. It’s hard to mistake Elaine because she is tan, blonde, and beautiful; gosh I’m so jealous of how tan she is! Lol. After a drink I must get going to the dance party and depart the lovely ladies.
As I get up the stairs I see my friend Chloe and her wife Samantha and they both look fantastic! I hadn’t gotten much time with just the two of them at the conference so it was nice to catch up. To be honest, that’s what we did most of the night. It’s so nice when you truly find a friend that you can connect with; we must have talked for over an hour. Since my feetsies were hurting from heels all day and now being back in them, it didn’t put me in a dancing mood anyways, though I did spot Kris on the dance floor shaking it like nobody’s business! You go girl! I also got to meet Cynthia that night. We only talked briefly but it was certainly a pleasure to make her acquaintance.
As Chloe and her wife leave I’m still trying to finish my drink. I just happen to be standing next to a bar and see Diane Crow from the seminar earlier. We smile at each other and I take the opportunity to tell her what a fabulous job she did giving her presentation. We start talking and she starts showing me all these cute pictures of her thrift shop finds. For as accomplished as she is Diane is very humble. I just really appreciated her taking 15 minutes out of her busy schedule to talk with me. We both finished our drinks, hugged and said goodnight. I make it to my room exhausted, barely enough energy to remove my makeup As I lay in bed I reminisce on my day; I didn’t even make it to dinner before I fell fast asleep. More to come for day 3!

Alex – you have done a wonderful job of chronicling events of Keystone. it’s amazing what a little femme time spent with your new girlfriends can do to break down inhibitions. I am so glad I was able to experience many of these firsts with you.
