Given that I’ve NEVER had the opportunity/need to share an alternate version of “who I am” than anyone else in world has any notion of, this will be challenging but admittedly kind of liberating. So... I’m a divorced, straight W/male. I’ve been a closet CD ever since an old GF dared me to let her dress me up, I finally agreed anti changed my world. I’m over 50, but strangers always guess somewhere between 35-45, mainly because even though it’s graying, I still have longish, thick hair and like my brothers (but very much unlike all of my friends), zero receding hairline, a blessing I exploit at every opportunity, occasionally to facilitate some promising flirtation but mostly to piss off my friends. I’mm sure it helps that even though I look very much my age naked, I’ve weighed 150 since I was 40 and don’t yet need Spanx to redistribute it. It helps that I’m at least as young in my head as I’m sometimes mistaken to be, and that I Mae a living as a “creative”, in this case a professional photographer and documentary filmmaker, which I’ve observed tends to make more than a few telltale age lines seem less... aged. If there’s one thing that may set me apart from this community it’s the role photography has played in my exploration, starting with a polaroid, my GF’s wardrobe and makeup skills 73 Amazon boxes and Salvation Army bags worth of wardrobe options, 10 YouTube videos worth of makeup lessons and a $2,000 DSLR and an iPhone to capture the fun I may or may not have when the inspiration strikes. Accordingly I have a terabyte worth of professional “selfies” that meet my criteria of being close to 100% confident that no viewer would suspect that the woman in the photos is missing a vagina. Of course the admittedly bizarre irony is that I sincerely hope that no one I know ever lays their eyes on one of them. Bottom line, though I’ve managed to enjoy being in the closet since it’s as much of a creative as deeply private experience, the thought of dipping my toe in the larger world of people who might be at least kind of like me struck me as being worthy of thinking about, which is exactly what I’ve been doing for about 2 years now. Also, I’m a Capricorn and my favorite cereal is Lucky Charms.
