Even as a boy, I thought girl’s clothing was more interesting than boy’s clothing. I dabbled with crossdressing in my early 20’s trying on my sisters’ clothes — but didn’t take it very far because very little fit me. Eventually my attention turned to my career — getting my degree and teaching at a university. So my crossdressing laid dormant for decades. But the itch never totally went away. When I retired, I realized that the time was right to try my hand at crossdressing again. Except this time I got serious. The internet provided me with women’s apparel that actually fit me — and delivered it to my front door. YouTube taught me how to apply makeup and other tricks to feminize my appearance. And I had the time and freedom to experiment. The result is that I was able to create Angela, a woman whose beauty and femininity exceeded my wildest expectations. I’m sorry if that sounds vain, but I’ll never forget the first time I saw her in the mirror, fully realized, staring back at me. What a rush! If only my 20-something self could see me now! I joined Crossdresser Heaven about three months after I got back into crossdressing, and it changed my life. The support and love I feel from this community has given me the confidence and courage to take my crossdressing to the next level. I have now begun to go out in public as Angela — something that I honestly thought I would never do when I began my crossdressing journey. So what’s next? Going shopping with my CDH friends, a professional makeover, and a convention or two. Stay tuned.

Carol, this is my chance to personally thank you for your advice. As I indicated, it was you and Janice who recommended that this dress would make a good choice for browsing and shopping. And you were so right! This is the first time I’ve worn a dress out in public, and this particular dress looked so nice that it just put me at ease. Thank you, my friend.

Thank you, Marie. It was extremely fun. I’ve been out in public as Angela a few times. Once to run errands — and while that was an interesting experience, I wouldn’t say it was that much fun. But shopping for dresses? Being able to try them on before I buy them? Having hundreds to choose from, right there at my fingertips? Super fun!
That belt looks familair
Good eye, Jackie. I’ve worn that belt, and similar ones of different colors, on many of my outfits. Goth Girl wore it, for example. I use it whenever I want to tighten my outfit around my waist, which I felt was useful for this dress.
Where did you get that belt, breat
I got the belt on Amazon, like everything else I buy for Angela. Until today, that is. I’m definitely going to start buying more clothing and accessories in person. Probably sometimes in drab, but definitely sometimes as Angela.

I must confess that I fumbled around a bit when I went to the sales clerk to pay for the dress. She asked lots of questions, and because I was self-conscious about my male voice, I answered sheepishly. And that was a mistake. You have to exude confidence. But I could also see she didn’t care. A sale is a sale. So in the end it was no big deal. I’ll get better the more I do this.

Thank you, Mona. I was quite happy. But the whole experience was also quite daunting. Such a big department, so much to choose from! Next time (and there will be a next time) I’m going to take more time to explore everything on display.
